One of my job perks is that the boss pays for an XM radio subscription and i have my own boom box thing in my office and he has one in his office too. He must be paying for two subscriptions, we can listen independently of one another, we don't have to listen to the same thing.

I am going to put a new stereo in my car. I was going to get a "Satellite ready" stereo. My question is, can I use my existing Satellite Radio subscrition (which is under my boss's name) to also have XM in my car (without loosing what I have in my office) or will I need to get a new subscription for myself?

I figured someone here might know the answer...

Each sub is tied to your device ID. Each device needs a sub.

If your receiver works, it works, no matter where it is or what it's attached to, so, you'll be able to use it in your car, yes.

OK. So if I have a detachable unit that I can move from the car to the office on one subscription that will work but if I have a separate in-car system from my office system I'll need two subscriptions.

Your options are to utilize your boss provided sub and buck up for a portable unit and accessories (car kit/office kit) or buck up on your own sub for car.

I love my satellite radio in my car. I just wish I could listed at work but I'm too far from a window to get a signal.
