I purchased a warmoth telecaster neck second-hand that came pre-routed for vintage style tuners, approximately 11/32". I say approximately because the fender custom shop relic vintage-style tuners I recently also purchased second-hand don't fit the neck. The bushings on the tuners are just a little bit too big. It's like the tuning peg holes were routed for 8mm and the bushings are like 8.xx.

Is inconsistency in tuning peg size for vintage style tuners (gotoh and the like) a common occurrence? Is there an easy fix?

Thanks -

I generally have to use a reamer when installing tuners for the 1st time..

Just get a little $8 reamer from the hardware store and open up the holes a wee bit.. they should tap right in :)

The Fender brand Gotoh tuners have ferrules that are too big for sure. Dan has the remedy unless you get the Gotoh bushings from Allparts that will work. The reamer is cheaper for sure.
