Say you have a few email accounts, can you somehow link them all to your iPhone?

Does sending/receiving an email count as a webpage browse? On the ATT data usage calculator it shows it as its own usage.

So say you have a Yahoo email account, how'd you do it?

you can set up all your web or exchange email accounts on the iphone and use the iphone built-in mail program to check and send mail. any data used for this dips into your total usage. although i don't have any experience with the ATT data usage calculator (i've always had unlimited data).

alternatively, you can use the browser to access any of your webmail accounts. i've been known to do both at times.

Unlimited data days are over.

250mb = $25/mo
2GB = $35/mo

each extra GB = $10

You will not be able to renew or go month to month with unlimited by midsummer.

Before you get upset by the new plan, check your data usage. The vast majority of people use a LOT less than they think they do, especially if they have WiFi home or hangout near hotspots. This makes it all the more confusing why they would muck with their plans rather than just leave them alone. Somewhere it makes them more money but I can't quite figure out where.

BIG +1!

I've had my iPhone for 18 months, I've never reset my usage meter and I've sent/received a total of 1.8 GB. So, by going to the (cheaper) $25/month, I'll get 3 GB/year. Much more than I currently use...

According to my son, your numbers are wrong:

"No. 200 mb is $15. 2 gigs is $25. I average around 500-600 megabytes out of the allotted 2048 for 2gb"

Where did you get those figures?

You also have to pay $10 a month to use it as a phone.

I've had mine almost a year, and I've sucked down a whopping 439MB. LOL. 3GB should do me.

Is ATT flexible about changing plans mid-contract like Verizon?

With Verizon you can change plans anytime to a greater or smaller plan dependent on your changing needs. When I have gone way over my minutes they back dated me to a larger plan for the past month to avoid the ridiculous overage charges.

If I go 2GB and find it way too much can I scale it back to 200MB?

Maybe someone can correct me here, but I believe they all let you do that and the catch is that they extend your contract for another two years. Am I remembering that correctly?

Never had an extension with Verizon unless they gave me a new phone.

i've used 5 gigs in/out of total cell data since september. so, i'll stick with my "grandfathered" unlimited plan.

Guys at the ATT store were saying that grandfathering is a short term situation and will not be offered when you want to get a new phone. When you are eligible for, and opt to get, a new phone you will be entering a NEW contract and new contracts do not offer the grandfathering option. So you are grandfathered as long as you never want a new phone.

As I said earlier, they are going to that sometime this summer according to what they said to us.

I'm not a terribly heavy internet user, maybe average. I got my current 3GS last fall. Since then, I've used 7 days 15 hours of cell, and sent/received just over 2GB of data.

No, I am NOT scaling up my plan. That extra charge? Scam.

No, they only extend your contract if you have already passed the expiration date (are month to month) or you want to upgrade hardware. You can monkey around with plans all you want during the contract term. You just can't retro any of the plan changes without smoozing a customer service rep. :)
