I'm all for making a blues cover disc cover art something more then just a Pic of the artist leaning on the headstock of his guitar with a life meaning look on his face..........But can anyone decipher What the meaning behind this cover is?
GREAT album BTW! http://img.thegearpage.net/board/images/icons/icon14.gif

I dunno .... All those object are round / spherical and it looks like the other guy is throwing things at the closer person. Maybe the round things are influences that Miller picked up over the years?
FWIW, I heard samples of the songs and found it unbelieveably lame.

Hmm, dunno - I tried to work it out then realized I had better things to do. But... it did remind me that I meant to start up a similar thread a little while ago regarding the seriously lame cover art that Jeff Beck approved for "Emotion and Commotion" - seriously amateurish in concept and execution.

Maybe there's just some good weed being grown/consumed on the Miller ranch?

It takes a lot of balls to put out a cover like that... ;)

Wow really? I think thats one of the better covers in the last few decades. Seriously, I have an Eagle almost exactly like the one pictured on Jeffs cover Tattooed on my left arm. Its 24 Yrs old and I was planning on going back to get it re colored and add the guitar like Jeffs album cover. Seriously. :messedup :dunno

Just being out there makes it brillant? Do you have a clue to its meaning? I'm not saying its not cool, but with all of the creative minds here , I was just looking for some insight. Definitely like the round theme as a starting point.........

Gotta be a Storm Thorgerson design (Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Styx, 10ccc...). I've seen a lot of elements like that in his other designs. I think it's just a nod to a time when marketing artists and music was very different. When you could be more creative, have some fun and take some chances to get your product recognized on shelf.

I reckon there is no meaning, its just a fascinating (to me) image, and it seems to generate more interest in Steve Miller than has ever happend since....wayyy last century...therefore job well done say I.

I heard his cover of the Hendrix version of Come On the other day. It sounded pretty good. I'm catching his show in Portland on the 15th. I've seen him a few times over the years, he never disappoints.

He and his "friend" cane to a show I did in Friday Harbor. If he is cultivating anything good out at the "Miller ranch" he didn't share any.
