Thinking about picking up one of these pedals solely on the recommendation of a friend (and reading reviews) - no real opportunity to try firsthand.

If anybody has experience with both or either your opinion is appreciated.
Also - re: the Power Screamer - what about the Fat Boost?

I am particularly interested in which one performs best at low volume. (By perform, I guess I mean best simulates natural vintage overdriven tube tones - warm, creamy, smooth, gritty, sustained. Not interested in hi-gain metal or bee-in-a-bottle fizzy-ness.)

Thanks very much.

I have had both, and I like the FD2 (currently own) better than I did the Power Screamer, although I honestly don't remember the Power Screamer in enough detail to speak for how it sounds at low volumes. The FD2 does sound good at low volumes, and I like the options that the FD2 Mosfet gives you. The HBE has the clipping diode switch, but the FD2 is more versatile in my opinion.

I've had both, and I like the Power Screamer a little bit more. They're both great pedals though. The Power Screamer to me is a little fuller sounding to me, and seems to get along with all my amps, where the FD was a little bit more picky. The volume on the boost on the FD is nice to have however.
