Looks very much like a Ted Newman Jones style guitar. Jones built a few guitars for Richards in the same time period. I've never seen this particular guitar before though. I wonder if this one might be the prototype of the one with the more traditional lower cut away, like the guitars James Honeyman-Scott and Tom Petty also used.

It is one of several TNJ built for KR.

agree that it looks like a modified or prototype version of the shape I've seen elsewhere. I worked with a guy several decades ago who had a few of them, including a 5 string that was made to be a 5, with a custom made bridge and all (not really like the one in the posted photo of Keith)

The body shape on the ones I saw all looked like the one Mike Campbell is playing in this video (go to 1:07 for a clear shot) and they were much more "finished" looking compared with that one.

My suspicion has been that the guitar in question evolved into this one.
( Which later became the Chandler Austin Special. )

I was involved in the Chandler Austin Special deal. I helped set that up for Ted.

That is cool = not everyone can boast that they've had their picture taken with such a legend. Congrats!

I really like the way the lower horn(or lack thereof) looks on the first two pics. Some Pagelli's have a lower hon sort of like this, perhaps he was influenced by this.

I remember that guitar in the first two pics very well.
Three shows in a row I was first row right in front of Keith.
Rolling Stones 1973 tour that was.

Interesting story on that one. I bought it on ebay from a guy who claimed that TNJ made it for him and when delivered a year late was terrible. What I received was a disassembled guitar that could never have been played. Scale was way off. When put together neck angle was probably 20 degrees wrong. I had a luthier shorten the neck (was able to save the last fret) and completely re configure the thing. I chose the P rails to replace the Seymour humbuckers. The guitar is very versatile now and plays almost perfectly. It is a good compliment to the way way hot other guitar with the active EMGs which are twice as loud as any guitar I have.
