My GCP is setup with 4 buttons for presets and 8 for instant access control.

The instant access buttons seem to work fine and I have downloaded some presets that have bypassed effects and the buttons do turn on the effects when I press them, so that part is working fine.

One of the patches has a bypassed WAH in it. My instant access button does in fact turn onthe WAH, I can hear it BUT...my Yamaha FC7 expression pedal doesn't seem to do anything when I press it. It doesn't seem to work when I plug it into the back of the Axe or the GCP exp
pedal jacks.

There are expression pedal jacks (1 and 2) on the back of the Axe-fx and I also have exp pedal jacks on the GCP. So one basic question is "Can you use them interchangeably once they are set up for an effect?" (in other words, once you have configured an effect to use EXP 1; can you
plug it into either the back of the Axe-fx in exp-1 jack OR the exp 1 jack on the GCP OR does it have to be a specific exp pedal jack)

And, what exactly am I missing in getting this pedal to work now that I have enabled the WAH?

Can somebody please provide the exact steps to make this pedal work?

Go to the Wa, highlight it, press Edit, go to the Freq knob, press Enter, the top selection is Source. Use the master dial to enter whatever you have enabled the
Wa as (like External 1,or External 2). Then, if you want, go down further in the
list and set up your Start, Mid and End points. I also use Auto Eng., so the Wa starts
when I put my foot on it, no pressing an On button! Try PC reset "on" also, when you
go back to the top of the throw, it goes back to the sound before the WA.
Go to the Wiki, many settings are there (Vox Wa) and also how to do this set-up.

No.

The AxeFx maps the control of the wah to either an external controller (i.e. the CC the controller is sending values out over from the GCP) or to an internal pedal. It's a specific mapping made in the control section on the effects block.

And, what exactly am I missing in getting this pedal to work now that I have enabled the WAH?
First: you need to map the continuous controller number that the GCP sends out the changes in the expression pedal on to an external controller in the AxeFx. Goto I/O menu, use Page > to get to the CTRL tab and select one of the external controllers in the list (EXTERNAL [1:8]), hit ENTER, rock the controller pedal. The AxeFx will now have a CC# mapped to that external.

Now in your patch: edit the wah block, goto the FREQ control and hit 'ENTER' to access the external controller setup for this parameter. For 'SOURCE' select the external controller number you just mapped to your expression pedal. Wah away.

Thanks so much for the responses and I did get it working now.
