So,
Lately I have been looking to buy a G&L ASAT Classic or bluesboy. Hardly any have shown up, that aren't butterscotch color. Has the price of G&L's gone up? I remember seeing them in the $700 range and now it seems there all around $850-900. Is that the going rate for em now, or are people just thinking that their guitars are worth more? What should I expect to pay for a good condition ASAT classic? Thanks
Justin

Something is wacky in the marketplace right now.
Very few buyers, and for this reason G + Ls are staying where they are for now.
They're expensive when ordered, not cheap when bought from stock from a dealer, and very cheap when found on Craigslist and E-Bay. But, the market is kinda frozen - seems like the people who might want to sell do so amongst friends and bandmates. The going price for a used USA G + L is very low - you just gotta be very patient I guess.

Be patient and you will find a deal. I had been looking for a Legacy 2HB for a while and finally found one for $575 - an unreal deal.

I have seen the used legacy's go up a bit. Most in desireable colors are arougn 800 used. This is in Nothers NJ. I bought a Candy apple red legacy with matching headstock woth wsaa mint ( an 06) for $799, and I thought the deal was good. At least i thought i got a great value.

It's getting harder and harder to find low priced G&L's in general. I used to buy Legacy's and S-500's all day long @ $400-$450. I have had at least 10 of them. The prices have been slowly climbing for a few years now. I love me some G&L's :)

Yes I notice the change in the value... I have been looking to sell one of mine and I was checking the new prices going up in the 900 range some of them...

I think there's a lot more awareness of G&Ls now than 10 years ago. As a result, people will spend more on them because they realise they're not 'just another Fender copy'. And yes, G&L's own prices have gone up.
Keep in mind as well, if you choose enough options, you can more than double the base price of a Legacy. That makes it hard to get an 'average' price.

prices def. have bumped for used from what I see ... so has new, though ... Bluesboys have always seemed a tad more, I got really lucky and scored a superb one with a 12" radius V-neck (rare, often my favorite G&L neck) locally from a TGP'er in May for less than $850.

I can vouch for Jon C's guitar...it's a beaut! and the neck is awesome.

My #1 G&L ASAT I paid $1K for, used. Seeing as how I would have paid three times that for what this guitar has done for me, I still think they're a fantastic deal

They make a great guitar. Fantastic necks, I don't care for the look of the head stock or trem so I stick with Fender, I also appreciate the ease of Fender resale. That's just me.

Stands to reason, if enough people posts enough times about how used G + Ls (usa), Hamers (usa) and Heritage guitars are selling for absurdly low prices used, that at some point this would have an effect on the used market as word gets around.
Meanwhile, the used price for a USA Standard or Series Stratocaster seems suspect these days. Some guys get fair money like in the days before 2008 but more and more of them just sit there. These (Am Series/Standard) were bought by people who are never inclined to put the guitar out in the trash, nor to smash the guitar and so guess what? There are SO many of them - more than today's market can handle.

I have been trying to sell mine on the Emporium for a while now. For some reason, people don't seem to go for a silver sparkle finish...

I would of snatched up your guitar if it wasnt for the skull inlays, I love g&l sparkle guitars!
There was an ASAT on Craigslist yesterday in red burst. Black pickup covers, white pickguard. $650.
Had we not just bought a house and have another kiddo due in a month, I would have started doing the math.

I agree with this, I've grown accustomed to finding (and buying) (and selling) used G&L's in the $600-750 range, used Hamer's anywhere from $575 (P90 specials) to $900 and I grabbed a killer Heritage 150 for $950 that only had a slight finish crack... AND THEY'RE ALL GONE!!!
:bow
Just because people are asking for higher pricing doesn't mean they will sell, take my word for it... I'm practically giving stuff away and it's not moving.
