Why is it okay to capture your image without your consent or even knowledge, in order to give you a speeding ticket, but it is not okay to capture a cop exceeding his authority &/or abusing his power?

Answering your question honestly would not endear me to the mods.

I love how the mantra of law and order types who defend speed cameras and other surveillance is "If you're not doing anything wrong, you shouldn't have a problem".
It should work both ways, boys ...

"If the cops are doing their jobs properly and legally, they shouldn't have a problem."
:D
Ever been roughhoused by a cop?
It ain't fun......and I didn't deserve it, either.

It's all about intimidation, the police can arrest you for video taping but what it all boils down to is it's just not a private conversation and can be taped depending what state you're in.

I would agree with both statements.
People shouldn't have problems with traffic cams, since they should be obeying the law anyway.
Police shouldn't have problems with being recorded, as they should be obeying the law anyway.
It's a non-issue, anyway. Camera's will just continue to get more prolific, to the point where it will be futile to suggest that anything (other than in the privacy of your own home) will not be on tape anyway.
I hope the motorcycle guy lost his license. The roads aren't there to play on. People die that way.

Neither did I, both sides should be able to video and audio record.

I didn't think the wiretapping laws applied to videotaping on public property. Scary.

I often think about taking picture of cops talking on cell phones in squad cars. I see it once a week around here. Talk about balls!
It's becoming increasingly difficult to support law enforcement.

Somewhat related: You are not allowed to make video or audio recordings of Court proceedings - even if you are directly involved in those proceedings. Only the Court is allowed to do so, and any Appeals are, by necessity, based on these "Transcripts."

You guys DO realize, of course, that at some point the anti-LE posts are going to show up here, tempers will flare, mods will get headaches, and this thread will ultimately be locked. ;)

Wrong answer Big Brother.
I'm not going to expound on it, but the logic is simple. Clue: Using a vehicle on a public road is not a right.
