"X Sucks"

Nice article, though written for writers, addressing the critique "X Sucks" where "X" is pretty much anything, though books are used in this case.

It struck me as I read this, that substituting -your favorite band name here- for "X" made the article work as well. Take a read and let me know what you think.

The author of the piece is a literary agent. He provides some great info for aspiring writers. He also turned down my book if that matters to you. :)

This sounds like the kind of thing a literary agent would write, and also how they might approach works. Literary agents are looking for commercial (read "sellable") properties, as this is of benefit to them. Nothing wrong with that, but it paints with a ridiculously broad brush to suggest that even writers (or any other kind of artist) should wade through every book (or other piece of whatever relevant art) crosses their path with a mechanical evaluation such as he suggests.
