Hi, I have a GT8 and was wondering if the GT10 is really worth the upgrade, this would mean selling the GT-8 and spending about £300 Is it worth it or would I be better getting some other pedals to 'fill in the gaps' so to speak of where the GT10 is better?

In a word. No... But then, I am partial to not liking boss units.

Depends on what you want to do with it. I think the GT-10 is easier to program and certain sounds are maybe a little more accurate. But it all depends on what you're looking for. Is there something you don't like about the GT-8?

Nothing in particular, mainly I like the look of the looping feature

I guess I would weigh selling the GT-8 and buying a GT-10 versus buying a looper pedal and using it in addition to the GT-8. If you can sell the GT-8 and buy a GT-10 for less than the price of a looper pedal then it might be worth looking at. But if you can pick up a looper pedal that will do what you want cheaply then you might go that route.

I don't have either but I did once upgrade from 8 to 10. Thought it was quite an improvement all the way around except for the high gain models. They didn't get worse but digital high gain I've always had a problem with.

I have a GT8 as a back up effects units and have tested the Gt-10 many times. I'm not a big fan of them but they're still the best of the budget MFX's.
Much better than PODs imo.
Main diff between the 2 units is the GT-10 has a looper, is more user friendly and has a few more bells & whistles you'll never use. Tones & effects are similar quality imo. A few cosmetic changes here & there but works out equal in the end. The crappy wah & reverb are no better on the 10. The rest of the effects on both are the same as Boss stomps.
High quality analog pedals are much better quality than any of these cheap MFXs but they cost a lot more. :D

I don't think the GT-10 is a huge improvement over the 8, but rather an incremental step. The preamps are a bit more responsive to the player, there are more EQ options, and a few of the effects seem better to my ear. There is also more flexibility with the dual effects chain, which can be useful. And of course there is the looper (that I never actually use).
If it were me, I'd hold off for a bit and see if they come out with the next iteration of the series. But I don't really need (or want) a looper, so it it's a bigger factor for you I'd say you need to do a cost/benefit.
Peace,
