Is there any alternative to the Tube Driver? I had one a while ago and loved the tone but it was just too big, and I hated the huge power supply. Xotic AC Booster?

Thats a good choice. I'll also venture to mention the Keeley flexi 4x2 Tube Screamer. On the "Baked" side, treble rolled off and the bass boosted a bit.
The tubeworks pedal is way smaller (not much bigger than a boss pedal) and runs on a regular 9v PSU.
Some say it doesn't sound as good as the big version, but nothing comes closer to the big version.. It seems to work for Andy Timmons just fine!

Doesn't Andy just use the BB preamp? I was also thinking that the BB could cop some Tue Driver tones...
Nah, watch the YouTube clips from Mesa on his setup.. He gets his resolution leadtone from running the Tubedriver into the Stilettos clean channel.
He uses the BB as a gain boost with his Lonestar.
The Behringer VT911 is a near-clone of the 9V version, but is also a pretty big pedal, gets some bad reviews, but is cheap and easy to mod.

Here's the link to the clip I talked about.. Gorgeous tone!

A Blackstar HT Drive would be a good alternative imo

I've never heard the Tube Driver, but I'm also curious to see what can sound like it.

B.K. Butler had a few different tube pedals back in the late 80s/early 90s. Rack mount stuff, too. I actually put my Real Tube II two-channel tube preamp back in my rack last night and use it and the preamp in my Mark V to get five decent base tones to play around with (switched and controlled by a G-System).
Quality stuff-built very well and sounds very good.

The Maxon ROD 880? It's not much smaller but does run on regular 9V supply. It also has treble, mid, and bass controls.

Of all the stuff I have and have tried there isn't anything that duplicates the BK Butler, especially if it doesn't have a tube in it. As far as replacing it with something else, it really depends what you want to hear and feel out of the pedal.

I've got one of the black and yellow 5 knober pedal. Have kept it for years but never really clicked with me. Probably because I was playing through Fender type mid scooped amps. But two months ago got a EL 84 amp that has lots of mids and its the best dirt sound ever. Do you want Gary Moore tone? No problem and thats with a tele! I have gone through numerous other boutique pedals like the BB preamp and while good, this is just heads and shoulders better with this amp. Tactile response is also great. But what I have learned is so much of this stuff is mix and match dependent.
