I don't care if you hate or love the Cowboys, or football for that matter. It transcended sports. What a touching and powerful speech. I have no shame in admitting that I got a little misty-eyed. Emmit always has been, and is, a very classy guy.

I saw when he thanked Troy, Michael, and Moose individually. Did he thank the O-line?

He thanked each and every one of them individually.
They do not come any better than Emmit Smith. A damned fine human being.
Here's another great Emmit moment:

The only one who could have possibly followed Floyd Little. Great 1-2 punch to end the ceremony.

+1
I was at University of Florida while Emmitt was there. He was one of the friendliest people on campus. Not only was he a player who was a blast to watch, everyone liked him.

I missed all the speeches yesterday. Who introduced him?
Edit: I see it was Jerry. Cool.
Emmit was a damn fine player. I enjoyed watching the cowboys teams in the 90s.
I had so much niner hate back then, that watching them get torched by the triplets was a little reprieve since the Raiders were so up and down.

Now I need to make the journey to Canton now that the triplets have been reunited.

Please do the man at least the honor of getting his name right.
It is "Emmitt". Each and every post where he is named in this thread has it incorrect.

Look, man, I'm a diehard Giants fan and that is my passive/aggressive attack on him. :)

All of the speaches struck me as amazing. All of these men were fantastic speakers. They used the english language properly. For that alone, they are extraordinary. That show inspired me and gave me hope.

i don't get it
Why does EVERYONE hate the Cowboys but get all weepy when the guy who pretty much defined who they were in the 90s gets his props?
GO COWBOYS!:D

Emmitt and Jerry's speeches were both excellent and heartfelt.
Emmitt is a terrific public speaker. He didn't seem to be reading the speech or using any notes. The dedications to Moose and his dad were touching to say the least.

[But I still don't like the Cowboys :p :) ]

That was a good speech. I was expecting it to be a trainwreck.

That was a great speech. Emmitt always shows a lot of class and seems like a very good guy. I wish more professional football players were like him.
I don't watch as much pro football anymore since I prefer college, but I have always been a fan of the Cowboys. Being born and raised in Texas, it was always the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns for me and it remains that way to this day.

He is truly a class act (this from an Eagles fan) and epitomizes what a world class athlete should strive to be. I wish him well in all of his future endeavors and congratulations for his induction as one of the best.

Another thing I really liked about Emmitt was his "act like you've been there before" approach to scoring touchdowns. He never did any of the stupid chicken dances or full body dry heaves (thanks Costanza) that are so prevalent in the game now.
