I had a similar quest in mind recently and ended up going with a JBL K110 to replace the Copperhead in my PRRI. Link below to a thread detailing this struggle with an update with link to A/B comparison of the Copperhead and the K110 that I conducted after the fact (maybe page 2 in the thread?):

For a stated 1db difference in efficiency the Copperhead definitely comes on louder, some of which has to do with its stronger bass and mids. But for my money the articulation and spank of the K110 makes it the winner. And now that I'm breaking in the JBL a little more (I got in NOS and it was a little stiff) it seems even "sparklier" IMO. Best of luck in your search....

I just put a 10" Jensen Tornado in my 20 watt Clark Kanee and it's very clean. The efficiency ratings are deceiving with these speakers, more efficient than rated to my ears. "Most efficient" I doubt, but given the weight tradeoffs and an EASY mount into a combo, it's a really nice speaker.

Had a 2x10 cab with some EV Force 10's in it. Man was that cab punchy and capable of loud and clean. Wish I still had it. Bob

Thanks all. I got a Vox Cambridge in a trade deal today and the stock Vox/Clestion is just awful! I know this is the trouble because I played the amp thru my 2x12 Blue loaded cab and the difference is staggering. I would like to use this amp on it's own but the speaker is just lame as hell. I have some Jensen C10s and am sure that would help but I really want the cleanest possible sound I can get in this particular amp.

EV Force 10's are the ticket for uncolored tone. What your amp puts out; lots of bass, not enough bass, thick mids, cutting highs; will come through loud and clear with the Force 10. The JBL D or K110 will add some mids to the picture, which doesn't always work well with a cathode biased amp being pushed.

How about the JBL E110? I can get one reasonable.

Very heavy ceramic magnet but cleaner and less "mid forward" than the D or K alnico series.

yep, methinks JBL E110 would likely do the trick

^Cool, is 60 bucks a good deal on one?

as long as it functions as it should, $60 is a steal. Check recent sale prices on ebay....

I love my EVM-10L and EVM-10M. Just like their big brother.
