Remember when soda pop (drop whichever term you don't use for this stuff, or keep both if you do) came in real glass bottles? And came in a wide variety of really good flavors? What ones do you remember?
I was always partial to Sunrise Soda (bottle pictured in the following pics - I saved one of them as a kid!)

Grape Crush got me through many long hot days at summer camp. I don't really drink soda anymore, but a few times a year a grab a Grape Crush and the syrupy sweetnedd brings me right back to those innocent days or swimming and archery.

I used to drink loads of this as a kid. Just buy a case loaded with different flavors, drink it, and return the case and bottles. It was only a couple of bucks for a case.

From your location I'm gonna guess it might have been Towne Club.

Yeah, back when I was 12 or so, my friend Kurt and I would scrounge around for bottles. We worked hard, and at the end of the summer we had saved enough money for tennis raquets from Gemco. I think they were about $20 each.

When I was a kid I loved RCs and Barqs' root beer. And yeah they were in glass bottles. I think the lids had cork in them too. We would always return the bottles when we got new ones. I think it was 3 cents credit for each returned bottle.

In NYC on Passover, if you can find kosher for Passover coke, it's made with real cane sugar (not corn syrup).

I believe so is Dr. Brown's Black Cherry and Creme Sodas.

The best when I was a kid was a local place called Viking Soda. You'd grab an empty case and fill it up with whatever flavors you liked -- and they had everything.

In Virginia Beach they had a cherry drink that was wonderful. Normally the idea of tht would be gross. Anyone from that area know the drink to which I'm referring?

We had a local bottler here in town called Glen Rock Beverage where you could go watch the bottling operation and then fill a case of 7oz bottles for less than $2, picking and choosing from about twenty flavors. Black cherry soda, yum!

The other bottled drink I had a sweet tooth for back then was chocolate flavor, called Kayo. Had a very cool clear bottle with raised decoration.

Yeah, Glen Rock! and Kayo too! How about Squirt in those goofy spiral bottles?

Pretty much everything you get in Canada is made with real sugar instead of corn syrup and the difference in taste in amazing, even in things you don't think about, like ketchup.

Yeah - the cane sugar cokes are so much better...I had one the other night and my wife didn't understand what the big deal was until she tasted it. Not so cloying, and actually thirst quenching.

Yesterday at the store, I saw both "vintage" Mt. Dew and Dr. Pepper with cane sugar...

I'm hoping coke is gonna jump on the trendy sugar bandwagon.

Are you talking about Cheerwine? That's what we had in NC.

We can get the Mexican Cokes in bottles at Sam's Club now. Much better than the regular canned ones. I wish they were in the old 8 oz bottles though instead of 12 oz.

Ask your doctor, Fructos is just plain bad for human consumption and it is in every sweet thing we eat.

Pepsi also just came out with real sugar Pepsi pack.

My cousin and I use to drink Nesbitts Strawberry for its incomparable ability to summon up a belch on a swig or two.

There sure is a lot of stuff that sucks compared to yesteryear.

anyone go to 'the pop shoppe' maybe it was a local thing (CT) but you bought your bottles in a mix-and-match case, and had to do a deposit for each bottle, flavors were simply marked on the metal pop-cap. when you were done you had to bring the whole case of emptys back for exchange, it was kind of like the netflix of soda pop. I'm amazed I never got a cavity until i was an adult.

For all the HEB grocery customers- they have come out with a line of cane sugar sodas, really good, for @3.00 a 12 pack. They have coke, dr. pepper, root beer, and big red knockoffs.

Some things were better in the old days.

Getting an ice-cold soda in a glass bottle with real sugar and a bottle-cap that you needed an opener for is one of those things.

It was always such a great feeling on a crazy hot summer day when you pulled into a dusty, dirty gas station and saw one of these out front.
