What would your ballpark valuation, in today's market be?
thanks,

It's real hard to speculate in a market that's "all over the place" due to the economy. If it were mine and I was looking to sell, I wouldn't let it go for less than $2200.

I was thinking that that would be high as it is cosmetically beat, non-original speakers & grill cloth. But thanks, I may be wrong, but dont want to undersell myself.
But then again, it is what it is: a '64 fender electric, low serial no. vr.
I am not fishing for a sale. I'm just trying to put a valuation on it if I do put it up for sale. If I do I'm going to do it local, as I dont want to mess with the shipping.

Here's my '64. I'm not selling but wouldn't take a penny less than $2800 if I were. The original baffle and speakers are boxed. There is a tear in the original grillcloth but the amp is a solid 8.5/10.

Yours is a collector's grade piece, mine is not. I think will gather more information before making a decision. There are very few old vr's on ebay or on the completed auctions to use as comparables.
Mine sounds awesome. This whole process, from pulling it out of the back basement, playing if for the first time in awhile, etc, is making me seriously rethinking selling it at all, particularly at what i was thinking would be a fair, fast sale price-1600 to 1800.

I saw one for sale at Savage Audio, asking price is just under $2500, I think. That one would be in excellent operating condition (but not as nice as the previous photo cosmetically) likely with some kind of warranty on their maintenance. StanG I have to think if yours is in good working order your estimate is pretty fair.

Some better pictures would help. In the photo you supplied it looks like the amp could use a general cleaning. It's clear the grillcloth has been changed. Most folks will swap out the speakers anyway, unless it has original brown and gold Jensens. As I stated before, the original baffle and Oxfords are boxed. I have a Rodgers baffle with aged grillcloth and a pair of Weber reconed Jensen P10P's.

Hard to say since the market is a little unstable. If I was a buyer, and without seeing more pics, I'd probably offer $1500 but be prepared to spend a few hundred more. I don't think I'd go $2k myself, but I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if you got it though.

$1400-1500
It would last about 10 minutes if it was posted in the amp emporium here.

That's kind of the point right? For it to sell?

Sure that's the point, but when something sells that quickly you know it's priced well below market value. Even if it is a bit tattered it's still a '64 pre CBS Vibrolux Reverb Amp. The heart and soul of these amps are their original transformers and blue Mallory caps. I'll take it right now for $1400.

I found this site useful in the past. It lists ebay sale amounts for the past year of vintage Fenders:

It wouldn't last that long because I'd buy it. I wouldn't pay much more though. If this amp comes up for sale,, trade, or for partial sale/trade please PM or email me immediately.
