I've always wanted to get two and make them fight. Or maybe just piss off my cat with the one.

You should get one, and let us know how it works out :)

I have one and they do a pretty great job. Haven't gotten rid of the regular vacuum yet because I mainly use it in the kitchen.

My wife got one a couple of years back - the battery went dead and would not take a charge, and replacement batteries were so expensive that she tossed it... (I should mention that she then got a Dyson which she loves...)
I do think that the Roomba thing worked fine on wood and tile floors; but it was, u-m-m, "less efficient" on carpets, though... :)

Had two, and will never get one again. The customer service sucks.

We've had our Roomba about six months. We got it mostly to deal with the pet hair ( two labs, dashound and 2 cats) It does a pretty good job but gets clogged with pet hair frequently. Still it's better than daily vacuuming with the Dyson. If you don't have pets it will be awesome.

Ours died after a few months of light use. I'm in the process of boxing it up to send back. My wife really wanted one and I had a feeling that the thing wouldn't last long so I bought it from Hammacher Schlemmer. They provide a Lifetime Guarantee, so hopefully we'll get a new one without any problems.

the newer ones are much better on carpet. I dig ours. run it about twice a week to keep the dust off of the hardwood. Also, it's a great excuse to have my kid pick up her crap a couple of times a week (or roomba will eat it!)

We had some problems with the earlier versions, and returned them with no problem. I don't know if that was a function of iRobot, or of Amazon, but it was a painless experience getting a replacement.

I envision my cat using it as a taxi to nowhere in particular. :D

Any device that keeps a cat entertained is worth it's weight in gold!

I've had one for over 3 years and it's never died. Yes, just like a roller-bar vacuum, you DO have to clean it out from time to time — but I've never had one iota of problems.
Once our remodel and addition is done, I'll e buying another one for that part of the house.
