Yeah, another placement question, I would just need some little cues on that. I have a Fromel shape eq and a DSTC "Dr. scientist The Cleaness" that I' m trying to use as "always on pedals" and I had some really good results as sometimes it's harder to dial on a settings I like.

What I actually did is put the DSTC late in the signal, after all dirts and the Fromel Sh.Eq. before dirts except GE sunface. I have a long signal path and like the DSTC as a line driver and tone shaper to add more mids and high end.

I'm on the impression that with the Sh.Eq., I can improve even better my basic tone but have some difficulties to understand the knob's functions. I'm questonning too about changing the eq's settings when using Strat Single coils and SG Humbuckers. Are you putting more high when playing HB and more bass with SC, or...? At the moment I use mine with the buffer on.

I'm curious about how you use yours and where you place it in the chain. Thanks for your answers!

my signal chain is as follows: wah > fuzz > treble boost > Shape Eq > OD > delay > amp switcher > tuner

I also use the buffer. When the knobs are at noon they are flat. If you move them counter-clockwise they cut frequency, if you move them clockwise they boost frequency. The upper small knob is the Q. When the switch below it is up it allows you to choose which mid frequency you cut or boost. When the switch is down it no longer affects the mid control.

I don't really understand the need for two EQs if you're always leaving both of them on - how are you using the second one - as a boost?

The second one boost a bit my signal late in the chain. I try to set it just
to smooth up my BF Vibrolux. Am I crazy? I thought about that why using two Eq's? I began to test that since two band practices.

I'm trying to get a smooth tone with some high when using the neck pup of my SG and than I just roll off a bit the tone on the guitar for the bridge position. I've always found that neck position was too dark and two pratices ago I had a killer tone using two eq's, one after dirts and the other one before. Everything was shinning, Fuzz,od's, Dist, Phase, chorus, vibe.....but the last practice, It was harder to get a good basic tone.

At the moment I' m trying things and just want to have a descent Rock tone
out of my Vibrolux. When I'm talking about rock tone I also include clean's.

Have you tried dropping the height of your neck pickup a little and then bring up the indiviual polepieces to add some sparkle? I'd start with that and see if you still need to be doing all of this compensating with EQs afterwards.

My philosophy is to try and set up your basic EQing with just the guitar and amp dry - if you still need an EQ to address issues you can't solve at the pickups or amp, then it's worthwhile to have the pedal to make additional adjustments.

In my case, I have an MDEQ that I use to bump up the low end on my single tone control amps when playing at lower volumes. I don't need it when the amps are cranked up, so I don't have it on all the time. If I needed to have an EQ on all the time, I'd seriously look at the guitar and amp to find out what I'm trying to fix with an EQ pedal.

I've never touch the polepieces. I'll search information on that. The thing with a Vibrolux is the lack of mid so that's also why I'm trying to eq'ing it.

There's mids - you just need to dial back the Bass and Treble a little on the amp and turn it up some.

Ahhh so that's how you do it ;)

That' s what I heard and tried but I'm not convinced with the result. I need some high end too, not only mids. That's why I'm trying things with eq's!

It's how you get them with a Blackface circuit - I've never run the Bass on a 2-6L6 or 2-6V6-based BF past 5 (typically around 3 is plenty), and the Treble rarely past 6 or so. I hate that really scooped midrange sound...

You'll get some highs from that neck HB if you drop the pickup height and raise the poles - you'll see. ;)

Thanks for that Erksin!:dude I'll try to mess with it!
