I'm in a cover band and I'd like to be able to be able to play synth parts on guitar as needed. Does the M13 and/or M9 offer enough synth-like options to at least evoke, rather than exactly nail a variety of synth sounds? Examples of what I'm going for would be the main riff in Blur's "Girls and Boys" or the synth solo (at 2:28) in Morrissey's "Last of the Famous International Playboys."
I'm currently using a Zoom G9.2tt, and while it does have some freakier sounds, I'm having difficulty getting close to what I'm looking for.

Yes - it will probably take some experimentation to get the right combo of effects and they are all monophonic, but there's a pretty wide range of synth sounds on the M13/M9 and you can use the other filter and pitch effects to fatten up the sounds.

I have the M9, and have had the Boss GT-10 and I think that may be better suited for this, the synth effect on the GT-10 is great.

To be honest, the M9 is lacking in the triggered filter department and the tracked waveforms sound a little thin.

Same with M13 or no?

Yeah.
Hopefully they'll add more later.
It does have great sounds for general effects, but don't expect to replicate stuff without a serious headwreck of combining various effects. I'm trying to do the same as you with the M9 ATM. I wanted to sell my Digitech Bass Synth Wah but I'm considering not doing so.
My Korg PX4D has some amazing synth sounds but they don't pick up pitch bends so that's a bit boring.
