Hi.
It appears that many of you guys have adopted the Eventide Time Factor.
About a year ago, I checked it out, and while I totally liked the unit, I was let down by it's excessive hiss/noise, compared to other units (TC Nova, Line6 DL4).
I wanted to double check so I asked a friend who is a well established pro guitar system designer here in LA and he confirmed that, when the Eventide is used in front of an amp, instrument level, there is too much noise/hiss, but he also said that the Time Factor EXCELS (no noise) when used Line Level in a studio, or in an amp's effect loop.
Anyway, the TF would be pretty much the ideal delay pedal for my needs... Small, light, great sound, tweakable, midi, USB....

I tried to search the forums for noise/hiss issues, but Time Factor users are not mentioning anything... Maybe a software update fixed the problem...?

...or maybe I am the problem...

..anybody..?

Thanks in advance,
RM

Like anything you add in the signal, there may be noise but the TF does not have any excessive hissing or white noise.

DEAD quiet in an effects loop and almost unnoticeable in front of my amps.

I hope this helps.

My TF is very quiet. No noise issues at all.

I have the other 2 Factor pedals. No unusual noise, there's always going to be some if you run it into an amp with gain.
FWIW lots of session players using TimeFactors in front of amps around here.

My Timefactor is dead silent. I have owned several Nova Delays and always been bugged by the noise they added to my signal.

I use my pedals in front of my amps as well. My Pitchfactor is also very quiet.

Thank you all for your input. After reading your replies, I ordered the TF, thinking that the unit I played with was maybe an early one... I read somewhere that the first units shipped were noisier.. apparently some shortcoming on the shielding ...
I also wanted to add that I run my amps fairly clean and the dirt/gain comes from pedals. The pedalboard, all the pedals and power are well laid out and everything is running clean and quiet, plus, when I tested the unit, I had it in a Lehle loop alone, with nothing else just to have a comparison with the signal straight to the amp. The Lehle's built-in buffer was always disabled (I never use it... it sounds a bit bright and not very organic to me although it's obvious that it could be useful).
Again, the white noise/hiss on that occasion was unacceptable, so it really must have been that particular unit.
I am looking forward to play with the new TF and fwiw I'll report my findings.

Thanks again,

RM
