Am trying out a new music store tomorrow while visiting here in NJ [ Prymaxe] and am considering buying a new OD from what looks to be a huge pedal selection.
What's your current overdrive of choice ? What has simply knocked you out lately ?
Suggest a new OD for me please !

For me, hands down, my Fetto Deluxe. Had it since 2007, and nothing compares. While it is discontinued, a Fetto Custom (http://www.himmelstrutz.com/fetto_custom.htm) would totally suit you. From light gain to hard rock... it delivers.

Well..............I have a 3 way tie...........but it's based on certain applications. I love my Rockbox BP for more modern gain, my Zenkudo for that Dumble sound, and my Klon for classic rock tones.
Hard to pick just one...........but that's what a pedal board is for!

There are hundreds of great overdrives. (There are not so many great distortion pedals.) Take your pick, but try a bunch first.
My favorite is the Kingsley Jester, but you will probably not find that in a music store unless it is used. My second favorite is the Rockbox Boiling Point. Same deal: hard to find (but try Tonefactor). Third and fourth: probably the Fulltone OCD and Fulldrive 2 Mosfet.

I keep returning to my fulldrive 2 MOSFET. So versatile, I love the options on it. Works great in a band setting.

For one pedal that does so much, the FDII Mosfet is extremely hard to beat.
You get (via toggle switches) the choice between Vintage (modified TS sound), FM (flat mids for a more modern no mid-hump sound) or CompCut (clean boost). With the Mosfet version you also have the choice between the old standard FDII assymetrical clipping or Mosfet clipping. Add to that the Boost channel (which adds a bit of volume and more overdrive) and you get one pedal that can do a truly amazing amount of different/excellent tones. The FDII is one of those "benchmark" pedals and I will always have it on my pedalboard.
I actually sold my FDII Mosfet and bought an older non-toggle equiped version which I had modded to old orange colored version specs as I use my Klon for clean boost and dial my Zendrive into more of a Flat Mids eq.
If you are looking for one pedal to cover alot of bases, I would definitely suggest checking the FDII Mosfet out.
Good luck!

Earthquaker Devices Monarch. Run at 18v with the gain almost all the way down. Used this way it's basically an Orange-flavored boost.

Bear in mind your guitar and amp. As important as all these pedals running around out there. If you know your guitar and amp well you can match a good drive pedal to get that similar natural response up and down the neck at different volumes.

i been thru more overdrives than i can remember...keep going back to the klon..
a klon and a timmy has been keeping happy for a go while now..they work for me..
over overdrives that have impressed me are emma stink box i think its called..but i think its on the same order as the timmy.
also the sigma drive by cmatmods...and the sarhara by port city amps

I've wanted to try one of these for a while. The only OD left on my board after a a long parade of pedals is the EQD White Light OD. Fun and versatile.

All depends on your amp, guitar and preferred tone. I run an EL84 setup with both Strat and LP. For Strat tones, i like my Signa Drive and Hot Cake. for LP, its my Small Fry and my OCD

I work in a music store (Alvas Music) & I get to hear a ton of FX pedals. My personal fav is the SWELL drive pedals. All tube, analog, true bypass, front mounted jacks, etc. Sound like amp switching-seamless & transparent. Here is a video of the G-Drive http://www.youtube.com/gearmanndude#p/u/6/n9k2zjk6dME
