I have the honor of saying I was at this show.
I'm certain there are other (many) great live performances for EJ but this one seemed pretty special at the time and it was dumb luck that I happened upon this the other day.
He went on very late- almost midnight but played a full set until around 1:30 or so. He was really going for it and it showed. Also his tone is at it's best. The Marshalls are just singing and raw.
We kept yelling for him to do Bristol Shore....he did (not the attached clip) Anyway, enjoy it.

This whole show is on You Tube. I was there as well! My first EJ show :bow. There was some serious trouble with his rig and at one point I was pretty sure he was going to cancel. The problem finally got figured out and he came out and blazed away!
You lucky dog, I wish EJ could drag his ass over here, so I could get the chance to hear him just once.

Mine too- Remember Michael Fath? What a goof he was. He looked like Terry Adams from NRBQ and played guitar like a cut rate Jeff Watson (Nightranger)

Bwahaha! Yeah, I remember. I remember his ridiculous boots the most. that was about the time he was trying to break through with his cover of "Frankenstein." Paul Reed Smith was there, too, and came out and jammed with him with a new amp he was working on. Good times! :D:bonk

I love the Bayou. I did monitors there for a summer in 1991... classic venue.

Saw EJ in Chicago on the Tones tour. Summer of '86 (I think?). At the Caberet Metro and not crowded. General admission so we just pulled our table up to the front of the stage! My mind was blown from the first note. Whoa!

I love this song and this record. It changed my musical palette and actually helped me to get through a really tough time in my life.

Here's an old clip from the eighties. The quality is poor, but E. is just KILLIN' on this number!

Yep, I was there with my wife. IIRC, there was another act - other than Fath - that had a tough time with the audience. The lead singer said "ya want to hear some Zep?" and when no one responded he said "well, too bad" and started playing a cover tune anyway. :D
I remember seeing the Orphans - w/Fath - at Bayou when they were an opening act for Rick Derringer. And that was the first time I saw Fath and I was impressed with his playing. To this day, I don't know why he does not play like that anymore. On that night backing for EJ, he played too many fast/sloppy notes and his bass player seemed like he was out there to impress people rather than playing music - birds of a feather, I suppose.
EJ finally came on around 1 am or so and people - including us - got so tired of waiting and someone yelled "we want Danny Gatton!!". LOL
It was a great show but we had to leave - around 3 am or so - as it was so freaking late, especially for my wife.
I wonder if I bumped into you. ;)
