I've recently figured out that my cd of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues is a bit sharp. In fact, when I tune the guitar to the record, A is somewhere between 440 and 441. It is sharp at 440 and flat at 441.

Is there a tuner out there that can tell me exactly where my A is, so I can then calibrate the tuner to that 'center', if you will? Does my question make any sense?

What would be even better if there is software out there can can sample a recording, and tell you the concert pitch. A lot of things can happen between the microphone and the final pressing of a recording, things get sped up, slowed down, etc.

You can do it with the Peterson StroboFlip. It calibrates to 1/10 of a cent, and you can change the calibration while it's measuring your note until the display reads in tune. I've used this to match tuning on my old Emenee organ.

and there weren't alot of tuners back in the day so alot of records are in tune with themselves but not with the rest of the world.

and your question makes sense, but why? you could just tune your guitar to the recording and shouldn't need a tuner to do it. are you doing more than just playing along with the record?
