There is one in emporium for sale.. It's a good short delay.. I really like it..

@j_m_s
Yes, that's a landgraff LD'o from a forumite.. Mine is not as good as most of the people here.. I really wanna try BJF pedal, Ethos, and many more.. Thanks for tellin me that u are jealous.. I take that as a compliment.. :)

@theHoss
Hi.. Thank you very much.. I sacrifice a lot as a college student for this pedalboard.. Lol.. As an example : No Drinking, No Partying, No Girls, Buy used text book, eat once a day.. Sometimes I feel stupid, but after I see my pedalboard, I suddenly feel happy again..

Off course, for the best price on earth, get it from TGP Emporium..

:)

@todaystomorrow

As you can see, I use a fender blues junior and the amp doest have send and return feature for my modulation. I used the X Blender as a send and return features.

More pedalboards please.. Thanks for your kind compliment..

I think when you remove 2 big line 6 pedals + memory man and replace it with the Nova's, it really makes the thing smaller.. And your drive pedal just a barber direct? That's amazing..

@Sceiron

MoogVaganza.. Always bring me a goosebumps every time I see it..

@Reff

The Howie and The AC plus is long gone.. They found new home.. THe Keeley delays is my backup delay.. I prefer my Deep Blue Delay since it's smaller and better IMO.. Dont worry, we'll find you a Choralflange man..

No, I plug to the volume pedal first, the the volume pedal tuner output gives signal to the TU2, so The TU2 is out from the signal chain to preserve better tone.

Actually I've read that using the tuner out of the volume pedal loads down your signal ( you get signal loss) so that may not be a good idea.

I forget the technicalities of it though....

Just redid mine this week. The signal starts at the tuner then into 3 Landgraff pedals from right to left- MO-D, Dynamic OD, and Boost, then into the X-blender to loop in series or parallel the Line 6 pedals, then back to the TC Delay and out. All are powered by a Pedal Power II.

Alot of this stuff has stayed since early summer, I'm really narrowing down what works for me, it's funny how getting a consistent tone becomes something you take for granted, and you end up chasing that last 5% of what makes up your sound. Next week is the volume pedal shootout

Thiscall, yes that is a HBOD and a Timmy. They stack very nicely, juicy and harmonically rich. Great for when you need a fairly saturated but not too tubby/mid heavy sound. Sure the Timmy will treat you well!

It's a very nice Rat clone, with a better switch, and a cute enclosure, and it's got the three way switch and clipping options. I like it for heavy gain, kinda that shredder Van Halen Steve Morse tone. I really need to explore its low gain sounds. It's a bit noisy with single coil guitars.

I've got my eyes out looking for some Skreddy stuff, so one of those might bump it off for my high gain pedal.

This is feeds a Star Nova w/ a 1 x 12 closed cab with a Scumback M75 (25W.) Main guitars JD Tele w/ Duncans; Hamer Special w/ Lollar P90, Hamer Special w/ Lollar Minis; Dearmond M75T w/ 2ks. Keef 52 RI under construction!

First is the 69, which I have had forever, it is finally getting used, I never had it first in the chain and it makes all the difference. The Wah and Auto Wah are next bypassed by the lower right box. Love the Discombobulator! BiComp and SuperDuper are next which I use without any dirt pedals, the Star had lots of gain with no pedals. BiComp seems to really make the Barber noisy. The BB Preamp give some sparkle to the Star which is dark. Main lead tone is either the BOR or the BU, one of them is a goner to make things simple, still trying to figure it out. If it is the BU, then the Super Duper also will go and I will use the BOR boost as clean boost. I have a Honeybee that I am thinking of putting last in the dirt chain, now I use it with a Kalamazoo Model 1. The MoFuax is last, a great wiggle pedal and a good deal.

The Scrambler is bypassed with the Barge Unit which can also add feedback, a failed experiment and both are about to go. May add an octave pedal of some kind to replace. The Java Boost and Sex Drive are for a AC15 TBX. The Bypass Unit lower left is for another board for a Kalamazoo Model 1 I use for clean with a Fender outboard tube reverb and an Area 51 tube trem. Also have a Songworks rotary cab for Lelise fx.

NYC Pedalboard with Voodoo Labs power supplies tucked under upper tier. Bypass boxes are from Loop-Master. Will neaten up cabling once I sort out the final line up (which will be never!)

Comments welcome: thoughts are a octave pedal for this rig?

Chain is Tele->TU-2 ->Modded BYOC Screamer (Blue pedal) ->Ltd SR ->Boss FV-500L ->Echo Park -> DD-5 -> AC-15

The red pedal is a Beavis Audio Trotsky I made, just waiting for more plugs so I can wire it in! The silver one above it is a rehousing of the Trem/Reverb footswitches from the AC15. Blue pedal is a modded BYOC screamer with a gain boost ( ala Fulldrive), loads of clipping options (DIP inside) and 6 gain/mid-hump settings on a rotary switch.

Small but it will be growing soon! And they all sound great which is a bonus!

I like the 6-band eq a lot.
It adds just enough to any pedal. I have it in Loop # 3 so I can use it with any dirt box, but it shines with the Reeza.
Trick is to leave all sliders flat initially and then slightly cut the ones you want. As a boost with the sliders pushed up it can be too "presence-ey" if that makes any sense. They're super sensitive to even the slightest adjustment.
I just cut the two middle bands slightly and it gives a nice overall punch to the sound. Looked at the 10-band & decided it was overkill.

You've been through SO MANY pedals... what's been your favorite distortion pedal? Not OD, but distortion - talking DSL to Recto territory, but not Metal Zone territory. Rhythm and Lead.

Hi AJ

board setup as in - neutrik locking jacks(in-out) beside the goodrich vol pedal.

routing as: neutrik - zoom of-01 - mxr blue box - goodrich - tu2 - budda - whammy4 - muffin - barge fuzz - rf1 - guvnor - eq - fl303 - sch-1 - hr2 - Mr. faze- fm4 - rt20 - dd-02 - echo park(now gone to be replaced with dl4) rc-20 - master blaster...

routing goes underneath - Kalikot hikari(boost and compressor) - BBE 262 - neutrik output locking jack.

upgrades will be the dl4 and a Kalikot Audio custom looper.
most pedals on custom power supply by Kalikot Audio
other pedals on their own power supply.
Kalikot Audio from the Philippines.
Made the board myself. Made of Philippine Narra and marin ply for the top and bottom covers...damn heavy.

So hard to try and pick a favorite.
For Mesa sounds the MI Tube Zone is hard to beat, the Rocktron Zombie will get you the same sounds a lot cheaper though.
For Marshall crunch I like the Pinnacle II more than the Crunch Box. It's one of the few "Marshall" pedals that'll do rhythm & lead in one pedal.
Kaden Brown Creeper is nice too, but not "tight" enough for me.

The Reeza, as the new kid on the board, is whooping all the others' asses!
Massive low end thump, smooth but "raw" gain structure, and the bias knob reminds me of fuzzes I've had that have that feature, which is very useful. Sort of a "refined" Diamond Fireburst without the huge wall of fuzz the FB gives you. Old-school metal lives in the Reeza. :)

The Blackstar is a nice crunch machine too, a little less tight in the low end, but extremely articulate on chords.

Just got the FD2 Mosfet last night, and initial impressions are it's a killer crunchy OD but if you want to use the comp-cut mode it's very trebly, as others have noted. I'm liking the vintage mode with mosfet on, gain & boost dimed, and tone @ 9 o'clock. With my LP/Marshall rig it shines with these settings. Reeza & FD2 play nice together, as do the FD2 & Pinnacle.

I'd have to give the nod to the Reeza right now as my favorite distortion.

Major downsizing recently. This is the current board (sorry for the haze/glare, the camera got dowsed in the wash a few months back and this is the result):
http://home.comcast.net/~colinstout/Pedalboard12042007.JPG

Since they don't really fill the big board, I decided to build another smaller one based roughly on the Pedaltrain Pro size. The huge one was too cumbersome. Here's the new board raw:

As long as it's 1/2" or better there will be no problems. There may be a little give, but unless you are standing on it, it won't be an issue. I made one with 3/4" plywood once and that was major overkill.

Bag it. I don't gig regularly right now, so I'm not too worried about it being super durable. My last big board had a huge top half/cover that attached with break apart hinges, major overkill.

Are you planning on any supports for the top middle portions? I feel like you are going to put your foot through that thing when you engage a pedal.
It's made of 1/2" plywood, with 1" Pine supports. It felt a little soft before I put the center support on, but now it feels pretty solid.

take off the metal and paint it black and then put the metal back on, loooks much better than the wood
I actually primered the top and all the inside edges, which included some of the support braces that show through and the support screws on the sides. The paint may chip from the metal parts, but I don't think it'll get a large amount of wear and tear. I painted my last board before bracing and I wanted to go for a more uniform color this time. I probably should have tried tolexing it, but I'll save that headache for next time.

Yeah, I really wanted to buy one of the new ones with the mounts for the PPII and gigbag, but I looked around at the wood and supplies I had left over and figured I could build one for a lot less. Plus I wasn't sure my VHT Valvulator would fit underneath, but I made mine just a little larger and added bigger rubber feet along the back and it (barely) fits. But I could have fit a power strip under the PTPro, which doesn't fit on mine (bought a Monster 4 Output To Go instead but it's rigged kinda weird). I'll post top and bottom pics when it's all done, in the next day or two.

I also like the way you cut the slots in the wood rather then attaching a bunch of strips.

LOL...I just ordered a pedaltrain pro (I have the junior which is too small) so I might be getting that power supply that can bolt underneath eventually

Yeah, I would've had to make a lot more accurate cuts if I wanted to do it that way. As it turned out, I had to freehand all the slots with a jigsaw, so they're pretty ragged (the saw didn't seem to agree with my straightedge for some reason, kept pulling left after only a few inches).

You probably already know this, but the new versions of the Pedaltrains have a really easy mounting bracket for the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power, both the Pro size and the middle one (not the junior, IIRC, but not sure).

lol ... the loop junky was in that spot last week! it was cool ... but i don't think it's worth the cash ... but i do kinda miss it already. i have my keeley dl4 that i keep off the board when i'm looping/feeling crazy.

i love my board right now. i don't want to change anything.

that said ... i only that ABY when i'm using 2 amps ... so i'm sure something else will go there.

I like this rig alot. Im glad to see another person using the EX-7 with footswitch. I bought mine when they first came out and Its been a main part of my board ever since.

I did mod it and build a true bypass looper into the mode select spot (cause i never use the dirt part) and its makes the pedal alot more functional for me.

gillibi, what's that EP-PRE pedal do - Juice up your signal like an EchoPlex would? I've often heard people (EJ and session guitarist Jerry McPherson for example) talk about that. Can you describe the pedal? Does it do what it's designers intended, and how does it compare to the sound of a real EchoPlex?

Long live the TGP Pedalboard thread! :drool

Thanks man. Yeah, I love the EX7 and the footswitch to change patches makes it that much more usable....I have it down to a science when switching patches, It took me a few gigs but now I always know where I am and it's second nature to get to the patch I want.

Great, even underrated, piece of gear. I'm suprised I don,t see them on more boards.

I loved it, bit heavy though for my total board weight + the slanted shape of my board + woods used didn't give me a subtle way of turning the EX-7 on..

I had a hard time pushing the toe switch.. Fixed that with a TB-looper, that took up a lot of space...
So I sold it.. Probably going to get a rack'd whammy/octave-up with 1 expression pedal; saves me some pedalboard real estate..

So far I'm REALLY digging it! I'm waiting to gig with it before I give a review though. Band has been on a month break from gigs but this weekend we'll be back in business. So far combined with the Replex I get VERY close to the sound of a great EP3 I played through for a while. Get on Peter's list, these things are going to be on a lot of peoples' boards.

With the wah off the board, where do you put it in your chain?

Thx

Chain is:
TS-9
Wah - modified TB / LED / a few circuit changes
CS-3 - Monte Allums Opto mod
TS style OD I built from a GGG kit that also works as clean boost.
'74 Vintage Phase 90 (TB / LED / Power tap)
DD-20
RC-20XL
A/B selector I built to switch between tuner and out
EB Jr VolumeSometimes I like wah before OD, sometimes after. This allows me to switch.

Of course all this will change by tomorrow morning. I'm probably going to go with two boards again and put all the OD, compression, Wah and volume on another board. Then I'll add a few modulation effects to this one. The chain will be OD board with Wah and volume on the right side into the Modulation and delay board on the left. I'll probably build a simple buffer ala AMZ to go in the volume pedal and get that pot out of the chain if I decide to stick with this design.

I only use OD, compression, wah and volume at electric gigs, but I still use the modulation at acoustic shows. So spliting the two makes sense and cuts down on what I carry to acoustic shows.

Edit: And it will change again after Christmas when I get pedal presents (grin).

your old board looked just fine to me...what's the advantage of having them do it?

First and foremost the advantage is a pro set up. I'm going to start traveling with it ... mostly local ... but don't want to have any unexpected surprises.

I'm having the input and output interfaces made custom for my needs. The input will be A/B/Y with B isolated for no ground loop anymore on the acoustic channel. The output will be A/B/Y, also isolated for no ground loop between amps.

I'll no longer be using the true bypass strips ... the phase 45 will be modified for true bypass ... custom power supply ... pedalboard and case ...

Dave at LASD has been great to work with. He has a ton of experience and knowledge.

It will be a board to last me forever ... until I add that next pedal ...

I am not sure who built this originally. It's a really cool design. It is a true bypass switching system except that all pedals are connected to 2 separate junction boxes located under my delays, then controlled by the strip via 2 midi cables. IT makes for a snug set up.

Here's a pic of the redesigned board. I now have two T-Rex boards. One small one has my essentials - Wah, Diamond J-Drive TR boost and OD, '69 Fuzz, Comp, Tuner. This is to grab-and-go for jams and small gigs. The second board is larger, with the stranger, less essential stuff. The loop pedal is a Toadworks Roundabout, and the a/b/y is a Morley for selecting between amps. Power is from two T-Rex Fuel Tank Juniors velcroed securely under each board. I was having terrible hiss problems, but the isolated power from these seems to have sorted it out. The amp switch is for the channels and tremelo of a Peavey DB210, and the other amp out goes to an old silverface Princeton non-reverb.

The two Dano pedals and the whammy are in separate loops using the Toadworks Roundabout.

BYOC Wah (Whipple inductor) -> AnalogMan Mini Bi-Comp -> MXR script logo Phase 45 -> Lovepedal COT-50 (blue LED) -> Lovepedal 'burst Eternity -> GGG kit / Landgraff DO clone (with a 'fat' switch) -> MI Audio Crunch Box (Burr Brown IC and presence control moved outdoors) -> home-made A/B switch (used as a tuner mute / routing switch to Peterson StroboStomp tuner) -> Monsterpiece NPN fuzz.

The Blue Up/Down switch is a patch switch for a Boss SE-70 running 100% wet in the parallel effects loop of my amp (Fuchs ODS-50 SLX 1x12 combo).
The black 2-button switch is the amps Clean/OD and Reverb On/Off switch.

The upside-down wah is a BYOC kit I just completed for a friend - (sounds great). The unfinished pedal in the upper-left corner is a Jordan Bosstone fuzz clone that I'm currently working on. I'm still waiting on a couple of components to finish it. I should know within a week if I have a new fuzz pedal or just a metal box full of parts. :D

I'm still waiting on a couple of components to finish it. I should know within a week if I have a new fuzz pedal or just a metal box full of parts. :D

where'd the OCD go? lol!

The Landgraff DO clone stole the OCD's seat. The modded OCD is a great sounding pedal but the Landy clone is a cut above. There are only two seats for overdrive on my board. The Eternity has seen a lot of OD's come and go. The other slot seems to have a rotation. I think the Landy clone may just be a permanent placement. Can't say for sure though.

If I want to do another modded OCD they're plentiful and relatively cheap. It was a fun project that yielded a very flexible, great sounding overdrive so nothing lost. :)

Wow. I've got the same GGG kit on my board (the "Ugly Blue Pedal"). I started with the Keeley mods and a fat switch and wound up tinkering with a few things myself. Where did you find the
Landgraff schematic?

I might have to pickup that wah kit now too.

The Landgraff DO mods are listed in the GGG mods ducument as the 'very expensive overdrive' mods just one page after the Keeley mods. Landgraff also uses metalized polyester box caps and carbon composition resistors. How much these component types contribute to the sound I can't be sure but it only costs about $10 to replace the stock caps and resistors. There's a lot of information about the Landgraff clone build in this thread : LDO vs FUDD (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=324190). There's also a complete list of Mouser part numbers to replace the aforementioned parts on page five (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=324190&page=5) of this thread. I owned a Keeley modded TS808 and it was a great sounding overdrive but this pedal is a monster!

No doubt. Night before last I jammed with a friend who uses a Landgraff. It's an amazing pedal.

Thanks for all the info! I've done some of the mods on that second page without realizing where they came from. Then tweaked them a bit to work with my Bassman (was a bit dark at first). I have not, however, tried the carbon comp resistors.

What's the pedal at the bottom right with the question mark?
Thats a furman pedal finder..it helps him locate a pedal as they usually get lost on that busy board!

After having gone WELL over a year and a half without a "pedalboard", I decided today (on my birthday) to make one for myself. It's easily THE worst DIY job I've EVER seen. It's literally a piece of wood I found at home with some holes in it and pedals attached. I just needed it for tomorrow 'cause I'm going to a "big jam", and I'm gonna' need my pedals. Here she is! (I got my BJF all scratched up!!!! :()

Marko, How do you find the timmy compaired to your LDO or the cherry red OD? I've been kind of skeptical about getting one .. somethings telling me i should.

markom89
12-23-2007, 10:05 PM
Hey Greg,
Hmm... well. The Cherry Red is the most touch sensitive of the bunch. By a LONG shot. It's also much "sweeter" sounding, if you get what I mean.
The LDO is much more higher gain, and for the most part, compressed. It's much more of a "rock" pedal, IMO.
Lastly, the Timmy is also a low-medium gain pedal, like the cherry red, but it differs from it in the way that it's much more "gritty" sounding (IMO, of course) and just isn't as touch sensitive. For actually driving an amp, though, I'd take the timmy. It just seems to work alot better at higher volumes, which is why I chose it for the AC-15 board :)

Out of the 3, I think I'd take the cherry red...

gregory49
12-23-2007, 10:08 PM
cool thanks for the answer, thats exactly what i needed to hear. I don't need another drive pedal. I take my LDO personally at this time. I can't wait to get the new Strat to see how it reacts with my pedals. I use the LDO at a much lower gain setting like a TS.
