Hey all.

Im in the need of a phaser effect (vintage prefer) ive tried several out, Phase 90, 100 a few others but the effect is either too strong or off. there is no inbetween..

Ive tried it before and after dirts and all combos inbetween, - but I'd like a phaser that is more subtle than in your face..

So any suggestions on a good one please?

retrosonic phaser is a p90 with mix and depth controls..sometimes the mix is called a feedback control like the ph-1r and pt909.

Mad Professor Tiny Orange Phaser has a "mix" control. Sounds very good, too.

I have the GNI and it's mix control is very useful.

and44 - I think it would definitely work for what you want, as it is a very traditional sounding phaser and has the mix control you want. It is however quite expensive and has a flanger in it as well that you may not want or need. Although, I will say the flanger in there also sounds really good, also has a mix control, and has some cool features. Additionally, I'd also recommend that you keep your phaser before dirt to maximize any subtlety.

Thanks for the suggestions,

I'll check out the GNI and the Whetstone phaser pedals, as they seem the strongest in my hunt so far. very cool indeed in fact.

The VFE Enterprise has Mix and Depth knobs, plus neg/pos feedback control. It does 2,4 and 3 stage phase, and a vibe function. It also has internal pots for level and biasing. It is $100.

The Toneczar Halophaze has mix controls and a whole lot more! Enjoy your wait for one or paying big bux for a used one in the resale market!

I'll never understand why more builders don't add one. Subtle modulation is wonderful.

Retrosonic is a nice and safe bet if you like phase 90 tones. Sounds excellent. I'm selling mine if you are interested. Need cash. :)

+1 for Retro-Sonic

If you want a vintage sounding phaser, there is nothing better than the Retro-Sonic. Plus it has the mix feature you are looking for. It ended my phaser search after trying a bunch, including several of the ones mentioned in this thread.

It took me so long to arrive at the Retro-Sonic because I actually thought that it sounded really sterile and lifeless on the demos I heard. It couldn't be farther from that in person, though. The demos don't do it justice at all imo.
