View Full Version : Decent looking Tan/Brown shoe to wear with jeans, casual date shoe?

Any suggestions on a casual date shoe, not sneakers, not cowboy boots, that would go with a jeans and a button down shirt, modern casual style? All of my shoes are like work shoes, and I have sneakers and flip flops. Nothing in between. Pics if you have them.
Thanks.

I wear these with jeans at play or khakis for that business casual office look. Great, comfortable shoes.

These are what I like to wear with jeans on casual days. Very comfortable and Skechers can be found almost anywhere. Dr. Martens makes a nice slip-on as well but the sizing is whole size only.

I recently bought a pair of Ecco Neoflexors (http://www.eccousa.com/shoes/mens/casual/neoflexor/231/detail.aspx). They are extremely comfortable, and I've gotten more complements on those shoes than any other shoe I've ever had.

I wonder if pointy toed shoes will ever make a comeback. I used to love those. I can't do the high heeled original Beatle boot thing anymore, though. I know the company that made the original Beatle boots also make a low heeled version that Lennon wore around 65 or 66. But, it is a fairly high on the calf style boot, and I don't like that much leather going up my leg.

My wife bought me a pair of Skechers a few years ago that looked OK, but the damn things weighed about a pound each. I had never really thought about it before, but I found I do NOT like a heavy shoe. I also don't particularly like the sole to be huge (as in wider than the shoe by too much).

...I know the company that made the original Beatle boots also make a low heeled version that Lennon wore around 65 or 66.

Is it possible for a link for the low heeled ones? I own a pair of the ones with a high cuban heel and it kills for extended periods of time, the low ones I am interested in!

A pair of Sperry Top-Siders or Clark's Desert Boots will be your best bet. Simple and timeless. I've been wearing these two staples (along with Brooks Brothers' take on the Weejun) since my days at Deerfield, through UVa, and now at Yale. My old man did the same.

Some of the footwear (actually, all but 2 posts) have me....:worried

I'm partial to Fluevog's. Here's a pair I have been enjoying:

http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w%5B0%5D=gender%3Amen&w%5B1%5D=attribute%3AShoe&p=2&pp=1&view=detail&colourID=2562

But check out the site - lots of fun stuff: some wacky, but many fun takes on classics as well. And let me say this: I'm a big, ugly galoot. But I shod myself with good leather. And I get lots of compliments from the proverbial "Ladies" when I rock the 'Vogs. Nobody says nothin' when I wear my Keens. Except maybe "those look comfortable." And that's not the response I'm looking for when I'm out for the night. Wear your Sperrys, Keens, Sketchers when you go to the grocery store on Tuesday at 10 am. But not when you're out on a date unless you care more about your plantar fascitis than your state of laid, you've given up on making a love connection or are happy about your sexless marriage. ;) (And if you're dating a shoeless hippie, even more important to wear awesome shoes - you need to lead by example!)

Some of the ultra stylish ones appeal to me, but they'll never fit, as I have 14EEE or 4E sized duck feet. Most of the italian styles are for ultra narrows or nothing.

Dr. Martens makes a nice slip-on as well but the sizing is whole size only.

Bought any Doc Martens lately? Their newer stuff is just junk, in my experience (two pairs). The soles wear down very fast and the insides come unglued long before they should. I'm talking about the ones that sell for $50-ish.
