There's obviously the famous folk like Ricman and Lucidology and of course the good Doctor, :bow but, how well known do you think YOU are round these parts? :bonk
Discuss! (and I dunno, just thought it would be a cool idea for a thread.) :P :hide2

Rabid Clam!
I like your handle.
I had a thread once about opening a can of bearded calms and one jumped out with a top hat and cane, and then danced down the counter, hopped on the floor and went out the door. :)
I think the question was if the store would give you a partial refund for the clams or not.
Anyway, you remind me of that...... :idea
Anyway, I don't think many people really know I'm a normal serious guy in real life, and I just go crazy here to keep from going crazy in real life. :)

Hmm. Let's see. The admins and mods are aware of me (not always a good thing ;)). My husband is here so he knows me. And the people listed in my signature who I have met know me. And a few others that I've exchanged ideas with over the past couple of years. Hardly famous or infamous. Just one of the many.

If I'm known, I doubt it's for enriching contributions to the board. If not, that's perfectly fine too. I enjoy this place, whether from obscurity or infamy.
That being said, I recognize a lot of names of people who frequent the pub.

I sometimes fantasize about starting one of those "I'm outta' here" threads, but worry that no one would even bother posting a "Who are you?" response on it. Usually I just stick with making cryptic non-sequiter types of post. If anyone responds at all, it's usually something like "So, anyway...".
It's the same in real life, too. I left my last job after five years and it was two weeks before anyone asked "Didn't there used to be someone sitting here?". It's a shame, really. If people could see the delusions in my mind, they'd know what a fascinating person I really am.

When I was at Lafayette College (a relatively small school), a thousand years ago, as a freshman, it seemed I knew the names everyone in the school, and no one knew me. And then, each year I only knew the names of my classmates and everyone in the class years ahead of me, but not the people in the classes behind me. As a senior, I only knew the seniors, and I was known by everyone.
At TGP, I'm a freshman again.

I know Dickie ...we tend to disagree more the agree, but I checked out his tunes and even though I think he's wrong 100% of the time in our discussions, I'd still go watch his band play and tip a bottle wit 'em. ;)
I know a lot of the Budda guys too. Joe F, sixesesandsevens, stompbox blues, and a few others...... oh, and Dave_C, whom I didn't like too much, but then got to know him a little...he's alright too (needs to do something about all that body hair though........YIKES!)

No impact and not important. I think it's interesting, however, that on a board with 60,000+ members, there are a few who everyone recognizes and a bunch more who are known. I guess this would be true of any large group.....

Brand SPANKING new
I'm seeing a trend here.
My understanding is "spanking" is Middle English for when the blacksmith concludes his work by submersing the metal in water. This spanking process, which occurs immediately following applying the brand to the metal (hence "brand spanking new"), strengthens the final metal implement, be it a hammer, tongs, sword, knife, etc.

People seem to know me in the small builder/luthier section. Other than that, I highly doubt it. I've only recently been posting in this section and I almost always manage to piss somebody off... I guess the people I piss off know me :wave Hi guys!
Sure! You're Rod Welles, right?
:)
God, someone knows me!!!...[Hi Doug]

...As one of 2 active and openly female posters you do stand out a bit.
You make it sound like she just came out of the closet. OMG, A GIRL!
Few know me, yet I've been around seemingly forever. :D

No-one knows me I think.
Maybe I need catch-phrase.
EDIT: Plenty of people have been very kind in helping me out though, which is one of the great things about TGP.

I am the ugly retarded stepchild that is locked in the basement making unintelligble noise, but no one cares or acknowledges it.
