I need some advice, I have a '68 Super Reverb with the original CTS alnico speakers. I am playing a strat with Duncan Antiquity II's surfer set through it along with a strat plus with lace sensors. I like the clean tone alot but need an OD to dirty it up a bit. I'd like one that is creamy and thick but doesn't sound muddy. I've done a million searches and googled my fingers off and have come up with thinking I either want a TS-808 reissue or a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, which of these would be the ticket? I play blues and don't need a real heavy distortion, just that nice compressed, smooth OD without turning the SR to 9 or 10 which sounds GREAT but leaves my ears ringing for days.

The FD-2 is an 808 and then some.

I've played neither very much, but would have to think the 808 would be the ticket for you. I've heard Fulldrive 2 described as like Tubescreamer but with more gain on tap - others can chime in on that one and correct me if I'm wrong. I just know Tubecreamer is one of those classic choices for blues.

I'd pick the FD2 for the optionality, it's a great blues pedal for sure. I had gone away from my FD2 for a while but recently started using again because I forgot how great it was in the first place!

I have both. FD2 is very versatile and has a boost; the TS808 can get grittier and has more gain on tap.

If you have a Blackface Fender amp and you spend time hanging out on TGP, you absolutely NEED to have an FD2 in your arsenal. Don't even think about it; just do it.

This is the exact opposite of what I thought (I was thinking Fulldrive had more gain available than TS), but I'll defer to whiteop since I've got neither pedal.

I will say that I want to get a Fulldrive 2 as soon as possible - so I'll change up my vote from 808 to Fulldrive 2.

Fulldrive is much sweeter and fuller sounding. The tone control is a presence knob that rolls of some hardness of the distortion at high levels. It's not overly compressed and the flat-mids is the ticket on these babies. Much larger in size but simply twice the amount of colors on tap. They are built far superior than any stock TS808 and even better than the Keeley modded boxes. The only thing is for you to decide is which sounds the best to you. I'm all about the FD2

2 of my favorite od's. the win goes to the FD2 mos for me. 3 modes + boost are all useful. It's eq sits just right for guitar in the mix

I've used both and the FD2 stayed. I found the 808 a little muddier and the FD2 is more versatile.

FD2 can be cleaner or dirtier than an 808, grittier or smoother.
it is a really really great sounding OD & it's a nobrainer with a strat!
just do it!

Nice, Bryon! That's what an FD2 does into a Fender! (Even though yours look original and mine is just a reissue.)

The Fulldrive can sound very similar to a TS-808 but it is much more versatile. If looking for a TS-808 sound but more versatility like a boost etc, you can't go wrong with the Fulldrive.

I got my FD2 a couple of weeks ago - luv it. I play a Tele and an Am Std Strat into a Vox AC15C1. It makes a beautiful noise.

Thanks to both you and sanhozay
That was a month ago so the settings are long gone but I can look at how it is set now and let you know I have to admit I changed to my Zendrive a few minutes after this clip was taken but the Fulldrive 2 is a fine od pedal
