Ok, so I think I just figured out why I don't like any of the distortion pedals I have been looking at. Because--duh--what I really want is a clean boost. I heard a demo of the BB RC clean boost and had an ah-ha moment. Doh!
So anyway, what do y'all recommend.
Here's the criteria
$150 or less. Preferable below $100.
Must be a QUITE pedal.
Here's what I am after tonally. To me Mark Knopfler's recent recordings sound like a distant summer thunderstorm. Dynamic, resonant, rumbling, almost booming bass. Clear high end. Harmonically rich, warm, but never harsh. (Is this a beer I am describing?) Above clean, with just enough distortion to make things interesting. Does that make any sense? I thought I was looking for a distortion pedal, but it turns out I think a clean boost is what I should be looking at.
Pedal is going to go before my new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III. I know, pedestrian choice, but honestly, best sounding clean tone I could find that worked with my Les Paul (LTD ESP copy) and my Tele.
So, anyone? . . . . Buehler? Bueher?
