I picked up a set of these last week. At first I thought they were too bright and weak. I took Nick's adjustment suggestions which is fairly high and WOW what a difference. These p/u's have a killer bluesy quality with a lot of throat to the neck pickup. I can honestly say these are some of the best sounding Strat pickups I've ever heard for the SRV, Hendrix, Sayce rocking blues stuff.

I can't put down my guitar :aok

Are yours RWRP or non RWRP? How much distance from the e strings were they before and now? The distance between string and magnet, and non RWRP vs RWRP, for Rocketfire total 60's pickups would be a good discussion for a new thread.

Hmmmm...
<Spoken in hypnotic droning voice> "You want the guitar in the emporium."

These pickups sound great with OD but may be a touch too bright for prettier clean stuff. I'm still messing with them.

If you keep playing and find they're too bright in a few weeks, give me a call. I had a batch of wax used to pot pickups from around June of this year til about 2 weeks ago (Late September) that was causing some trouble. It seemed like it gave the pickups some strange microphonics problems and made the highs a little bit out of the norm.

That goes for anyone else who's got pickups in this window as well if you're finding microphonic feedback to be a problem or that the highs aren't quite soothing the soul;)

Nick,
I bought them used. They sound great but are a touch microphonic but so were a lot of the original 60's pickups, I accually like this. They me be on the bright side but they drive really well and sound clear and balanced. I believe the pickups I have are from the original run way back when you had an introductory price on them.

Thanks,
Billy

Ok, then nevermind that about the potting. Since making these I've only had this happen once and it was on just a few sets produced recently.

I have a set as well - and they are superb. I've had them for 2 years. Basically turned my strat into an heirloom guitar, and I sold my American and Custom shop Strat after buying them. I'm not the type to promote much of anything- but I go out of my way to talk about Nick and these pickups at every chance I get.

I absolutely love the Total 60's pickups that came in my Rocketfire. They just blow me away with how versatile they are - I can get everything from quacky 50's tones to SRV. I keep meaning to order another set for my American Standard, but get distracted with other projects. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for amazing sounding pickups.

And the guitar is amazing too - I really want a 60's style candy apple red w/ matching headstock to go along with my '55 blonde.

(I only own one, and I'm totally a fanboy)
