Being a huge WH-1 fan, ive always hated the sound of whammy in other effect units, it was the one thing that I wasn't impressed with from the Axe Fx.

Can anybody post some whammy clips from the HD500, anything will do (My Iron Lung if you can play it)

skip to 0.28 on the first one and 1.20 on the second one

imo the pod whammy is very good. btw i can upload just the guitar by itself if you would like to hear it isolated

I used the HD500 whammy on the intro to this tune:

I haven't recorded with it but I brought mine to practice last night and did "like a stone" on it. The band couldn't tell the difference from my jcm 900 whammy and dd7.

It sounds like it does the job tonally but the sweep doesnt quite sound right for the song?? Not sure if that is the HD500 or your footwork, listening to the original doesnt it sweep a little more, like an extra rock on the footswitch?

Great Cover!

Not sure what you mean.
It's sweeping from unison to an octave up...just like I programmed it to do.

Stilwel you totally rock bro. It was your U2 recording where you played choice licks from many of the hit songs just using the HD, right on bro! I am into the same style of playing, and have been very happy with my Gt-10 because of the extreme versatility and quality of the FX's, but sometimes I get a little unhappy with the Amps, I have dialed in a very good Vox tone, but its not to versatile and cant go past the slight breakup stage unless I use a booster or drive.
Couple questions for you,
Can you nail the POG tones, like the verse part of Magnificent, the big chords in F#Minor with octave up? So will it do chords with precision?
Does it do dual delays with any kind, like say a modulated and an analog for slap back both on different chains.

It sounds like you are nailing just about every wild effect, are there any you would say cant be had excellently with this unit?

I feel dumb asking, since I had spent time trying to get this effect working. What exactly are you assigning to get that effect? Thanks =p

used the HD500 at rehearsal yesterday. the built in expression pedal has a much wider sweep than the WH-1, so it's gonna feel different, not better or worse, just different

NO! The one magic box I NEED to keep, I've discovered, is my POG2. You can not do anything like this in the M13/POD HD...

Bummer, are you sure it cant be done with the right tweaks and insights?
I have had the GT-10 for a while and just now have been able to dial in that "Magnificent" big Chord POG tone. It took some effort, but now it is nailed, no wobble or anything.

Sorry, not a chance. The POG is truly magical and irreplaceable. I didn't have one for the longest time, got the little Micro Pog, sold it, got the POG2, specifically for something like "Magnificent", it simply is a must have. I suspect if you A/B it with your GT10 you'll feel the same way.

Back on topic, I'm not a Whammy fan, but the Whammy in the M13/HD 500 is simply awesome. I might find a way to use it. It's too fun...

I am sure for most, but I was just going for the big chord octave up in "Magnificent" which can also be done with the micro POG right?

No, dont get me wrong, I love the POG, its just really big and stuff, sounds amazing.

Actually it can... just not in the way you need it to.

The octo reverb has a polyphonic octave generator built into it. but you cant seperate the POG effect from the reverb and you have no control over which octaves are produced.

My point is that the technology actually already exists within the Octo. They just need to make it into its OWN effect. Course us M13 users said that almost 2 years ago and we're still waiting....

imho, there is a HUGE world of difference between the Micro POG and the POG. I think the POG is about a thousand times more useful, but yes, you can get VERY close to that sound (which is even cooler in the live DVD than on the record). For me, I don't need the extra octaves on the POG2 as much as I like the detune and filter features...

Yeah, it might eventually be capable of it, because obviously there's some polyphonic octave pitch shifting going on in that Octo, which I use a lot.

I'll tell you what's freakin' cool... the Octo WITH a POG2... or the Particle verb with the POG2. MAN! SMOKIN'!
