Hi folks,
just found a Telefunken ec83 in an old radio I have.
What amp and what position would be best to try it out.
I have 2 Marshall 50 watt clones,and a 72 Fender pro reverb.
One of the Marshall clones has 3 NOS Mullards in the preamp, the other has all sovtek tubes in the preamp. The Fender has all sovteks in the preamp also.
Thanks.

Fender in V1 if you use the normal channel, V2 if you use the vibe channel. Telefunkens would be best for an amp that does clean.
If you don't use cleans then I'll trade you another brand of ANOS if you are interested.

Thanks pfflam, thats what I figured.
I guess I've always liked RCA's in fenders but I''ll give it a try. This tube is out of a 60's Grundig radio that My dad had for years and very seldom played ,so as far as a trade I can't guarantee how long it will last.
Do you have a ANOS RCA you might want to trade?
Let me try it and I'll get back to you.
Thanks.

I actually have found I prefer old telefunkens in circuits that are distorting and rcas in cleaner paths, but as always, ymmv.
The telefunkens have a very rich distortion character that I really like, and the rcas that I have tried have a great sparkle for cleaner sounds.
I would try it in a few spots and see what you like.
