I just acquired a brand new SG Std. Although is a fantastic guitar in every way, I really love the sound of '57 Classics for my style of playing. It so happens that I have a pair of 57s that I would like to install. Problem is that the new circuit board with quick connects make it difficult. On the new SGs, the quick connects for the 490/498 pickups each have two wires plus the braided ground. The 57 Classic has only one wire (black) and the braided ground. How would that work? I even went so far as to find the actual quick connect plugs. I wonder if I have to install all new electronics? .....help.

Personally, I'd take all of that crap out. I'm doing it pretty regularly for my clients.
GuitarElectronics (http://www.guitarelectronics.com) and rsguitarworks (http://www.rsguitarworks.net)
Both sell all the parts necessary to wire your guitar the traditional way. You can either bring it to a tech or get a wiring diagram on the interweb if you're feeling handy.
And you get the caps from TGP's own OUTTAHEAR.

you can upgrade the volume pots from the stupid 300k linears to 500k audios while you're at it.
