Hello:
I've got a Vibrolux Reverb, and when I've got the reverb knob cranked the amp hisses.
Why do you think it does this? I've changed tubes 3 and 4, the ones associated with the reverb.
For comparison, my blackface Deluxe Reverb is dead quiet under the same circumstances.
Any thoughts?
thanks -
Richard

Richard - I stumpled across your old thread. Did you have any luck getting a fix?
Have you considered that a ground may have come loose? I've had similar very frustrating and time consuming issues with solder joints coming loose.

possibly the tank is getting interfearance from the speaker magnet. be sure the reverb tank is pushed all the way down...

Thanks for the idea..........I could not remedy the hiss. It was an eBay purchase, so I ended up returning the amp. I was out the $50 return shipping, but I no longer had an amp that hissed.
I tried everything I could think of....swapping out the reverb pan, etc etc. Always hiss.
I didn't think to check a ground issue. How might I have done that?

I stop tinkering at changing tubes and speakers. I tried everything you mentioned - I wasted money on new tubes and a pan. I finally took the amp to a tech and he said a gound in the reverb circuit had come loose. The amp sounded great again for about six months and has started hissing again.
The joy of owning tube amps.
