View Full Version : Which AC/DC song

So I know this is a lame question....but I wanted to get perspective from those that gig a lot more than I do these days...

We have a coporate gig coming up (we all work together) and we have landed on a song list of great songs that cover a lot of ground and will just be fun to play. We have a diverse work group of about 1K people so we are trying to mix it up with genres as well as picking songs that everyone will know.

So the dumb question of the day is...for one of our rock songs....

AC/DC:

Back in Black or Thunderstruck?

I think BNB is more universal that Thunderstruck but we are having a debate as the band mates are split on this one. So I was just curious from those that play out and play either song, what gets the more consistent positive reaction? (understanding that most play in clubs that may cater to certain types of music)

Thanks for the feedback...

Honestly, I think Shook Me is the best danceable AC/DC tune. Out of your two tunes, I'd say BNB as it is more dance-able without that long intro that Thunderstruck has.

Thanks....forgot to mention the wonderful world of Corporate is not a fan of the theme of Shook Me...as that was our first choice. Gotta love the world of PC!! Blech....

You Shook Me by a mile.
Between the two you mentioned, BIB by a mile.

You should play Thunderbusters!

Thunderstruck is a fun tune, but Back In Black is the best song they ever made, so that choice is easy to me

Yes, if 'You Shook Me' is a no go, then BIB would be the next choice.

Unless you modified Thunderstruck a little to shorten the intro etc. - It has a great groove if the crowd is in a head banging mood at the end of the night.. :)

And "Giving The Dog a Bone" is probably out?

unless you have a vocalist that can *really* sing AC/DC .. neither

Then I guess Beatin' Around the Bush and Sink the Pink are straight out.... In fact, you'll have to skip the entire Bon Scott catalog as they are universally about sex, booze, boozy sex, and crime.

Good luck!

out of the available choices i have to say BIB is the stronger candidate, hope the corporate types get down with their champagne glasses high in the air.......

Highway to Hell is a good one.

Whole Lotta Rosie or Highway to Hell would get my vote.

Out of the two options you present: Back in Black hands down.

This and then some.

Not quite the full whiskey soaked tone as Brian or Bon....but can easily hit the notes and his style is close enough that it sounds great with the band at full tilt. Because it is amongst co workers, just the fact that we are all up on stage rocking out will get a huge positive reaction. So we will have a little grace on our side.

Thanks for all of the feedback!!

I suppose "Let Me Put My Love Into You" is another non-starter?

I'd do this one.

Powerage is the best album ever recorded by AC/DC imo (saw the tour, yes i'm biased).

However 'Big Balls' sounds appropriate.

For a corporate gig such as yours--the only appropriately themed AC/DC tune is:

PmyzFsYEdco

Of the two definitely BiB. If it was me I'd be keen on either Whole Lotta Rosie or Riff Raff. Also agree that Powerage is by far their best. I hear a fair bit of Billy Gibbons in Angus' playing there.

PC pretty much eliminates anything by AC/DC. :)
If it were me, I'd want to REALLY go Un-PC, just for spite:

Big Balls
Crabsody In Blue
She's Got Balls
Love At First Feel

BIB is the most appropriate of the two you mentioned.

However, We've done Rock'n'Roll Train at a corporate show and it went down a treat.

It was at the staff show for the city's public transport network. we prefaced the song by saying the lyrics "Runaway Train - running right off the tracks" in no way reflected the service provided by client! Was quite funny actually!!
