SG Special and Standard tone difference

what are the big tone differences between the two? both have humbuckers i know, but how different in tone? and, can the Special be made to sound as good or better then the Standard with a pup swap?

besides binding, inlays etc, what are the big differences? just the way they look? or pickup difference? help...

Solely aesthetic.

Once you pull all the hardware off it is purely aesthetic for most people. Some people consider binding or no binding more then just aesthetics.

scored a yellow 2000 SG Special! yay! may be changing the pickups to some Bare Knuckle Nail Bombs...but the classic Duncan JB/59 set seems cool also...
