Speaker ohms & wiring question

I have a 2x12 cab that I am going to be putting speakers into.
I want to wire the 2 speakers so that it will be an 8ohm cab.

What ohm speakers do I need. Can I use 8ohm speakers?

if you wire two 4 ohm speakers in series it would be a 8 ohm load or you need two 16ohm speakers wired in parallel to make 8 ohms.
