I think they have some really great songs. Some very beautiful melodies as well.

Ladies and gentleman..... is a classic, in my book. In an age where musicians fall all over themselves trying to sound like one another, it blends gospel, blues and Phil Spector-like walls of noise unlike anything else.

i've got most of their albums, but Ladies and Gentlemen is the one for me. The live album that followed it's release actually gets more time on the IPod, especially disc2. Broken Heart into Come Together is killer...

cheers

Yeah, Come Together on that live cd has an unbelievable intro. I agree, Ladies and Gentleman is really special.

Big fan here too! Was lucky to see them play a very early gig in a small club in N. London in the early 90's - amazing experiece. It was the convention at there early gig's for everyone to sit on the floor and pass grass and poppers around amongst strangers and bathe in the light show.

Spacemen 3 & Spiritualized have always been in my top 5. Saw Sprititualized waaay back during the Let it come down tour (in the leg where they had the full orchestra): mind-blowing. This song pretty much captures all of junior year of college for me:

I always thought they did a super job with "I Got a Line On You".

Although it's the straw that broke the camel's back for Spacemen 3, I love this cover:

i love Laser Guided Melodies. cant find my copy of L&G, might have been in a batch of Cd's that got stolen a while back.

anybody listen to Lupine Howl? it's a spinoff group with former members of Spiritualized. they've got some decent tunes also, not quite as gospel & more brit psych rock than Spiritualized.

Love the first three Spiritualized records; Spacemen 3 is more hit-and-miss for me, but there are definitely hits. mbargav, you might appreciate this: Jason's publicist tried to get me to interview him for ... the Washingtonian. (Others: The Washingtonian is the glossy city magazine that essentially covers the rich and powerful in DC.) :p -E

Great band....I still get a little sad when I hear "Ballad of Richie Lee" on Amazing Grace...Richie was also a friend of mine.

Oh, and... my fave track on the Junior Kimbrough tribute album, "Sunday Nights" is "Sad Days Lonely Nights" covered by Spiritualized. Such a great interpretation of the cathartic, archetypal ass-groovin' blues skronk of Kimbrough. The louder it's playin' and the more f'd-up you are, the better:

One of my favorites - Pure Phase is it for me - that tour and Electric Mainline live, just awesome. Saw them at the Whiskey and El Rey during that time, and they were just awesome. But saw them at the Palace and Coachella, kind of around the same time, and not the same, don't know why. But still, with Spacemen 3, one of my all time favorites.

Great. And I like Spacemen 3 even more.

J. Spaceman seems like a real gearhead too.

Love their first 3 studio albums and of course 'F$cked Up Inside', the live album. Not really into any albums that came out after 'Ladies and Gentlemen', although there are random songs on the later albums that I dig. Got to see them 3 times in the 90s. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.

Also a huge fan of the Spacemen 3. They never put out a bad album.

Ladies and Gentlemen is a VERY strong album. Love it.

Was given a burned advance copy of AG and never got the song titles. Further, most Jason Spaceman songs are a series of references to Jesus and drug use so I don't pay close attention to his lyrics. Point is, I totally missed this reference. I loved Acetone and I'm sorry for your loss (and mine, although mine is obviously a lot less than yours). -E

Yes indeedy. Saw them at the Sydney All Tomorrow's Parties, with the saints, bad seeds, etc.

I knew nothing about them and they were easily the pick of the day for me.
