It seems there are a bunch of ways to use the ground control. Are you using it like a looper or to create patches or both?

Hi,

I use it the most common way (perhaps I'm wrong with this perception?!):

-scroll thru preset banks
-switch presets
-switch on/off FX (cc - controller changes)

Bye,
Lars

I'm using mine as a switcher for pedals and amp selection..can You add a processor and utilize MIDI while using it as a switcher

I use it to control my amp channels, change FX patches and control an RG16 looper. It's set up 4 patches/8 Instant Access buttons. 4 IA for pedals in looper before amp, 4 IA to turn on/off FX in TC rack unit--Modulation,Pitch,Delay and Reverb. Also run 2 Expression pedals through it to control overall rig Volume and various FX parameters depending on the patch selected.

I also have mine set up 4/8. Two of the 8 IA switches control the tuner and a dedicated db boost (set up as a GEQ at the very end of my chain with a 3 db boost) that is available on certain patches. The other control effects in patches. I also have one controller for Wah and other sweepable params and will be adding another one for volume in the near future.

So is it possible to set up pedals from the gcx on 1-4 and then use 5-8 from a MIDI source like a digitech 2120 and be able to program a different patch per switch

Here is how you do that...

When you create your patch, the whole thing, you tell it what patches you will call on all your midi devices. That way, you use switches 1-8 to turn loops on/off thus enabling each midi device located at said location.

If what you mean is to change different patches on the same midi device when you step on switches 5-8 is possible... that is different. You can use said switches to turn different things on/off in your midi device by using CCs. You may have to go to the voodoo lab forums and ask there. :bonk

Can the GC Pro send note on messages? I know it couldn't before, but I haven't kept up with current versions.

i was actually thinking about using it for switching pedals for 5 ia switches and then 6 to turn off the digitech 2120 and 7 to feed signal to the rivera knucklehead and 8 to feed signal to the 5150. then using a midi pedal to just go up and down on my digitech, but i might be doing alot of dancing... I am switching between two amps and controlling the digitech and wanting to have access to my pedals... does anyone have a better idea of doing this....?

I use four presets, and eight effect on/off switches (one I use as a tap tempo).

I posted this for you on the Voodoo Lab forum this morning:

If you set your GC Pro to 4 Presets/Bank mode, you can use the bottom four buttons to switch presets on the 2120 and the upper 8 buttons to control the GCX loops. Just connect the GCX MIDI Out to the 2120 MIDI In and you'll be good to go, with no need for an external MIDI pedal.

You can use any five loops you want for your effects pedals.

If you don't plan to use the Rivera and 5150 simultaneously, but will only be switching between them, you can do that with a single loop by connecting the Send to one amp and the Out to the other amp.

That leaves two loops open, so you can use one to turn the 2120 on and off. On the other hand, you could connect a volume pedal to one of the GC Pro's expression pedal jacks and use it to control the 2120's volume, so by backing the volume all the way down the 2120 is out of the picture, which will leave those two loops open.

If you find you do have a loop to spare, you might want to connect your tuner to the Send jack, but don't run a signal back from your tuner to the Return jack. This will take your tuner out of the signal chain and let you tune in silence.

i tested it and it is great. the only thing that is in question for me, for some reason, when you press the number one preset on the ground control, it doesnt bring up the first patch on the 2120, it doesnt seem to control anything.... number 2 calls up patch 1 number 3 calls up patch 4 ect..... anyone know what's going on there?

Read the instructions !! You can set the Ground control to start at 0 or 1.
If it is set to start at zero, 0 thru 9 = 1 thru 10.
The Ground Controll can be set to start either way , just read the manual. And there are quite a few Videos on you tube to see how to do this.
