It always amazes me when I plug in, just how awesome my '57 reissue tweed Twin sounds to me. I've been focussing on my Fender SF amps of late and earlier today tried my Les Paul through the Twin. :)

A pleasing experience to say the least. Any other fans of this amp?

Some don't like the speakers in them but as a whole I think it's a nice amp, the '57 Twin.

There's one for sale locally at a really good price that I've really been gassing for. I keep watching the ProGuitarShop.com demo and drooling.

I think '57 Twin RI or '59 Bassman RI might be the right amp for me. I already have a '57 Deluxe RI that I'm going to keep, but I'm also looking for something with more headroom. However, I can't find a '57 Twin in my local music stores, so I don't know how much more headroom it actually has... :huh

Hory clap that 57 twin makes me feel creamy on the inside. I think my tastes lately have become tweed fender > early marshall. Although there is some similarity of course.

For an 80 watt amp, it sure has a nice breakup point without having to turn it up to tinnitus-inducing levels.

This Tweed Twin is only 40 watts.

Right you are, I was thinking of the later model, side-by-side Twin.

THAT explains why the Twin reissue breaks up so readily.

Those speakers were my favorite part of that amp and the consensious that I have heard and read on this forum is that they are great speakers. To each there own though.:huh

i don't think the amp brought out the qualities of those guitars, i like soft, warm tones.. but that was muddy to me and and and i didnt feel the guitar shining thru..
i really doubt that amp would cut thru a mix

not my thing i guess..even the breakup just seemed blah

And that's exactly one of the things that I love about my Twin; the distinctive character displayed in my guitars when I play them through it.

Had my '57 tweed twin RI up for trade recently. Thank god it didn't go. This amp is impressive. Lots of tube swapping is one reason, now has NOS everything and the differences are not subtle. The two guitars that love this amp most are the '66 ES-335 and '75 Guild Starfire VI. Big cleans, plenty of headroom. Outstanding speakers. Enough volume to get in trouble. Channel volumes don't go much over halfway, even at gigs. Properly setup, this amp is one of the great tweeds IMO.

Btw, the video for PGS is outstanding! I'd love to know how they dialed in that sound.
