I'm secretly praying all my gibsony necks are strong enough to stand on

Stand on? I'm sure they'll be fine. The weight of the average person isn't TOO bad. But when you start having inertial affects from bouncing, etc. That's where the forces get good :)

I probably wouldn't have taken the taken the pearled board to the jointer - blades make it through okay?

Your body cuts are the exact same pattern I've seen on scrapped Gibsons from Kalamzoo. Must be some intuitive form of demolition.

I keep all my flawed bodies and experimental stuff, it's a constant reminder NOT TO DO IT AGAIN,lol.

All I know is I have the most boutiquey fireplace in the neighborhood during winter. Only the finest luither grade (scraps) gets burned at my house! LOL

Ah, one of the great joys of having known many luthiers (and furniture designers) for so many years is the annual "burning of the scrap bin" (aka 55 gallon drum or its equivalent). Nothing says the holiday season more than the crackling sounds of mahogany, maple, rosewood and other beautiful bits, shards and pieces showing their "true colors" as they ignite, providing warmth and inspiration for the year to come!

hahah, good stuff. It must be interesting to see what woods burn a certain way, or smell a certain way when burnt.

Reject Fender neck headstocks made a lovely glow in my fireplace back when I was working there.
They make very interesting headstock shaped embers.
They were in the dumpster to be disposed of,so I helped out and saved space in the landfill. I think of it as one small way of saving the planet and keeping me warm and cozy too. And the ashes helped fertilize the yard. Win /win I say.:D

Taylor has this killer industial wood grinder. You could throw wheelbarrow loads of maple logs in there and it will grind them up into pulp. They then sell the stuff to be recycled. I haven't had to saw one up yet, <knock on wood> but have always thought it would be a hoot to chuck one in there. Any takers? ;)

Soak a small piece of Spanish cedar in water- like 2"x2"
then bank it up against the charcoal just before you put meat on the grill and let it smoke.

Drool.

i've always wanted to install one of those under my repair bench: somebody would walk up with their sam's club starcaster for me to set up, i'd take it and toss it into the slot, momentary loud noise and a cloud of sawdust, and i'd tell them, "OK, it's done."
