I scored a Vicky Bassman and was curious what everyone likes for tubes in their Tweed Bassman amps?

I've owned a couple Fender RI and LTD's and used to have good luck with short bottles like old Tung Sol and GE's and liked the white letter GE 12ax7's and various old 12ay7's.

Anyone have a preference or recommendations for new or old stuff? Planning to use this as my "big, outdoors" amp so it needs to have good headroom that is big and fat sounding with sting, but not harsh or overly bright.

I'll be using it with a blackguard Tele clone, Gretsch 6120DSW, Dano U2 and Heritage 535, primarily playing rockabilly, jump blues and honky tonk country.

TAD makes a great short bottle 6L6 if you are interested in new production.

I loved my Vicky Bassman. Ran it on Tung Sol 5881s.

Yes, they do, I use them in my Vicky Bandmaster, great warm, earlier break up kinda tone.
