Trying to help out a friend.

Does anybody know of companies that offer health insurance for part time employees?

I've heard that FedEx, Home Depot & Whole Foods all offer this. Anybody know of other companies?

I think at one point Starbucks did, and maybe Costco (not free, but group rate benefits), but not sure in either case if they still do.

I think some banks still offer health benefits for teller positions.

Starbucks. I worked there for a long time while in art school (stereotypical, right?). You can get full benefits working 20 hours per week. As much as I hated working there, they treat their part-timers right.

Did the same in College, I believe they still do offer this as well.

I'd advise him to move to Canada. Canadians I know around here keep there citizenship so they aren't beholden to their employer for a chance to see a doctor, or maybe can't see one at all if self employed or working at a place that doesn't have it. Move to Canada I'd say. Ain't much different than Minnesota anyway.
