I'm about to buy a new acoustic guitar; I already own a Lowden F10 Special, so I'm looking for something brighter that will work great in pop/rock/Nashville context.

my favourite would be a Martin OM-42, however, that is out of my budget. any suggestions for alternatives around 2000-2500$ that sound similar? would the OM-28 work (haven't had a chance to play one, yet)?

the sound I'm basically after: http://www.amazon.com/Brooke-Fraser/e/B00197GQMO - Brooke Fraser :: Deciphering Me.

The OM-28 is very nearly the same guitar as the OM-42, there are subtle differences, but most differences are cosmetic. If you want an exhaustive listing of the differences head over to the Martin forum.

The simple answer - OM-28, same guitar, less bling.
