If you haven't been lately, head over to the KCA NOS website. They've updated it with a great online ordering system. It looks good!

Just kidding:D

My old hacked (by yours truly) site was pretty ugly but it DID generate 10,000+ orders. Pretty amazing!

The new site is a real pleasure to look at...and from the looks of it so far, a pleasure to order through as well.

Thanks for the plug!:dude

Mike,

I got the tubes on Tuesday like you said. All I can say is WOW! I don't think I can ever go back to new production tubes for my amps now. They are all fantastic! Thanks again. You were great to deal with as always.

Much better.

Tomorrow I'll be trying the Raytheon 12AX7s I bought from you a couple weeks ago. :dude

Mike how about a 20% discount on all nos tubes in honor of your new website?

All in favor say I!

It has potential but it ain't there yet.

I was just looking (or trying) for KT-66's and there is no info on them. I like the older style where you could see them all in one shot.

That's great! Which tubes were they and for what amp?

He's not crazy, I fixed the KT66 section this AM after reading his post. Thanks for testing it:dude

As a self declared internet web critic your web site is first class looks great and is easy to navigate I am sure we will do some business one day. :dude

They don't give tests to become a critic

Do you think you could slowly add a picture of the tubes to the descriptions? I know it is all about how they sound but lots of people for totally irrational reasons would make the plunge if the tube looks cool. ;)

Glad to be held in such high esteem by a bonified web critic;)

Yes, I am adding pics slowly (vewy vewy swowy!). I added about 6 yesterday. Funny but this sight looks more bare than the original site did with the same number of photos.

I'll agree completely - well done site. Bravo! So much nicer and just plain faster to get around on.

Bah, the KCA is now blocked from my work because it shows up
as a store now. (Sigh)

I'll have to wait till I get home to check it out.

I still do not see descriptions for the 66's, are they out of stock?

Uh, no. Maybe you need to refresh your browser?

Click this link http://kcanostubes.com/content/estore.asp

See the KT66 (I added this based on your comments, thanks for the input) just above "New Production Tubes"? Click that and see what happens.

Damn! That's a revolting development!

50% of my business comes from people surfing while at work. Maybe I should revert to my old site! ;)

Please let me know if it's still not working for you. You may be using a search tactic which I didn't anticipate and must correct for. Thanks.

Mike,

I completely retubed my Dr Z Maz Jr with RFT & RCA 12AX7s, Mullard 12AT7, GE5751(reverb recovery), Tesla EL84, and Philips 5AR4. The amp came stock with JJ tubes and a Sovtek rectifier. The amp sounded very good, but was noisy and lacked punch. The reverb tone was wimpy and very noisy. Popped the NOS tubes in and now this amp is phenominal! Quieter than a mouse. Punchier as all get out. The tone is right there!! Perfect breakup, great clean tone, I could go on and on.

I also got a pair of GT 12AX7Ms and Dario Miniwatt EF86s for my Dr Z Rt 66, but I've not had a chance to try those out yet. Too much damned work around here. I wish I had time during the day at work to surf your website more. ;^ )

If it matters to you mike, I don't care for having to scroll through multiple windows for a single category of tubes. I'd rather see all the listings of a particular style on one page.

Your old site was effective as heck. 10,000+ orders. Wow. Down here in TX we have a saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I love the slick look just miss the ease of view of the old site.

Yeah, I kinda know what you mean. But isn't it sorta cool to see each category sorted by brands (in alphabetical order, no less! what a concept [not my idea, of course;) ] rather than have to dig through the semi-organized "sprawl" of my old site?

There are plusses and minuses. I do miss the old site which was a total hack job, but very effective. Thing is, some people are turned off by a site like that and would probably never order. Some people prefer not to use the phone to order (it's a lot less conspicuous to order online if you work in a "cube").

Cest la vie! There ain't no goin' back now.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I agree that there are design pluses and minuses. There are things about the old site that I really liked, such as the comments being so easy to read and compare among the different tubes in a given class. I never had a problem with it. But I also like the new "hierarchical" structure, and think that as a business site, it is more pragmatic.

Either way, we're glad you're in business, Mike.

I agree.

Also, when I clicked on "New Production Tubes" the list did not include all the new production 12AX7's.

Also, when I clicked on "Preamp Tubes" and then went to the "12AX7" list, it was a different list (and shorter list) than when I clicked on the "12AX7" list on the eProducts page.

The new site does look more slick than the older one, though. And I'm sure the "Cart" system is much easier on Mike for orders than the older email system.

If stuff is missing from various "catagories" (eg, "new production tubes", "nos tubes", "12AX7s", etc.), it's my fault. I had to do all the product entry (all 260+ of them including matched pairs, matched quads, singles, etc.), create multiple catagories (trying to guess how different people would like to search) and then put each product in ALL the relevant catagories. Obviously I've missed some catagories for some items.

Please let me know if you find anything amiss so I can correct it. I was rushing to get the site up so I could get back to doing amp work, incoming testing, etc.

Keep the comments/critiques coming. I appreciate it.

Ouch! Sounds like alot of work!!

Yeah, time consuming and tedious as hell. I think it's paying off already. My phone call volume is less than half of what it used to be which allows me more time to do amp repair/mods without interruption.

I'll never know for sure, but I suspect that I'll grab more customers with the online ordering too.

Yeah.....the online ordering thing is just too damn easy......:p

Will you have Ei 12AX7's in stock in the forseeable future? I love those things......as you probably know.......;)

I think I've given up on the EIs. Their quality is so unreliable and I really don't have time to spend testing a bunch of tubes that yields 25% rejects and which produces a $4 gross profit (before 55% in income taxes).

I'm sure you can get them elsewhere. Maybe the memory will fade at some point and I'll give them a try again.
