Just a headsup that the Rod Sterling original marathon is going on today and with me being sick as a dog i may be watching a good part of it while im home
It was such a good-well written show that made ya 'think' and was actually foward looking on many levels/themes. I just love the old skool black and white screen and sets they used back then, such a great show, also alot of famous actors made apperances on that show
Was it made in the late 50's to mid 60's? - anyway just a friendly headsup for those interested :)

As well-written a series as has ever been on American television.

Damn, that is a good deal. I'm going to have to jump on it.
It is always a joke at our house since I have the marathon going on New Years and the 4th of July.

I enjoy watching a lot of these.
There's the ones that are shot on video.
Watching those is eerie- because the video quality is so good, it's not as "soft" as film, it actually looks like someone has made a period piece and transferred it to b/w.

I love the Twilight Zone! !! Yeah, that was the cool thing, seeing BIG time actors in their infancy!
I bought the box set on VHS (if you can believe that) at a yard sale for $35, so I'm good to go anytime the urge hits!

I recorded some of the shows from that marathon. I watched one the other day that looked very different. I would guess it was shot on video? I know it wasn't shot live but it looked like the kind of film that was in front of a live audience. What does this mean shot on video? How is it different? Were can I find out more about this?

Apparently there were 6 episodes that were shot to video.
The cameras or the tape of the time, couldn't handle the amount of light, so you'll see bright light appear to be "burned in."

Thanks for posting that link. Within that link I found out about kinescopes. I had no idea that everything didn't get put on some kind of film

Before anyone else rushes out to buy the series on DVD, it's worth mentioning that the first two seasons are available on Blu-Ray and season 3 is coming soon. I'm unsure about included extras, but they look terrific!

Yeah, this is a New Year's Eve/New Year's Day tradition for me.
Love this show & have since I first saw it as a kid... very easy to identify with so many places & references since Serling grew up very close to where I did in Upstate NY.
That Blue Ray shot looks great!

One of my unofficial sayings: "Everything you need to know about life is contained within Original Twilight Zone and Star Trek"
WPIX, NY, Channel 11... seemingly forever..
11pm, Odd Couple
11:30, Honeymooners
Midnight, Star Trek
1am, Twilight Zone
THAT is tough to beat

Watching it now as I do every New Years Day. They're so well done my family never tired of watching them. "Station is Willoughby...Willoughby..." "There's been no change!" "It's a cookbook!" "It has been decided in your favor." "Who was better, Robin Roberts or Clem Labine?" "They speak a language not dissimilar to ours." "It's not fair. There was time now..." Yep, there's no better way to spend a day off...
