Could anyone please give me their opinions (positve or negative) on Fralin P 90 pickups. Any comparisons to Duncans as well. I know Lindy is a great person to deal with. Thanks.

What type of P-90 sound are you going for? I would put Fralin between a standard Gibson P-90 and a Lollar tonally.

I'm interested in good cleans that can get gritty if desired by using more gain via the amp. I do not want huge distortion.

Based on that I would probably suggest the standard (not 50's wind) Lollar P-90. Fralins have slightly more bite/edge to them than the Lollar. Closer to a refined Gibson than the Lollar is. The Lollar is a P-90 all it's own and will do what you describe.

Funny, I just swapped a set of Seymour Antiquities for a set of Fralins this weekend.

The Antiquities have the edge on the bridge pickup, imo...... they compress nicely and sound like a P90 should. However the neck can be real woofy and "flurb" out (if that's a word).......

The neck (15% under) on the Fralins is killer......airy and very useable, with tons of other cool harmonics things going on.

I have or have had Vintage Gibsons, newer Gibsons, Duncans, Lollars & Fralins.......I like the two above - if vintage isn't an option. Float the ground, add a push/pull for OOP and your set.

You found the SD and Fralin to be cleaner and more more refined than the Lollars?
