So as we know the rumors are true about a Mustang III, IV and V being released.

Interested in seeing what Mustang I and II owners are planning to do.

Where is the proof of these rumors? What are these 3 & 4's all about?

+1

I bought the m2 to be a cheap grab and go / living room practice amp while my main rig is set up elsewhere. The m2 does exactly what I need and then some. Really fun amp!

Sorry to be misleading but I did not check to see if they released the 3&4. I am a beta tester for Fender. I am a tooob snob. The 4 blew me away. This thing sound magnificent with great pre sets and the endless ability to tweak things to the bone. It even has a tube sag adjustment. Oh It also sounds better than any line six product I have ever heard. It has to be one of the few SS amps on the market that sound natural with tube like emulations. Endless voice combos and a great foot switch. When you hook it up online, that's where the real tweaking happens. It is so at your finger tips. But even greater, the online community. You can copy a patch some rocker created and posted for the community. I didn't do hard compares to my tube amps. But this amp should be considered by home player weekend jammers to folks who use Delux reverbs at local clubs. I didn't tap the metal capabilities of the amp since I have no interest. But there were a slew of voices that sounded great flipping through the patches.

Probably the coolest thing for me was having a huge inventory of effects and the ability to mod on the cuff and the same goes for the model amps.

This thing gets loud but maintains its tonal palette at low volume.

I bought the Mustang I. For me it's the perfect carry-around the house amp. Now that I know what they can do, I'm going for the IV.

Sticking with the II. Perfect volume. I would assume the bigger versions would be for gigging. Much rather use a tube amp for that.

I agree, my MII does the job, don't need more watts

I'm sticking with my Mustang 2. I'm discovering that I need two or three workable amp models, then add pedals or Mustang's effects.
The amp is loud enough for me ( my amps are mic'd and sent through a PA)

The Mustang sounds fantastic though...tons of potential.

Will be interesting to check out the new ones once they're out...

I haven't had a chance to try one of these new amps. Any of you guys have a chance to compare to the SCXD?

teleman1

I own a SCXD and I'd think long and hard before I'd buy an scxd over a Mustang 3. Tubes sound is close, effects and amp mods are an endless candy store on the M3.

I like modeling amps for low volume playin at home, and the M1 is my favorite so far. Not interested in louder Mustangs though - that's what tube amps are for :-)

Andycaster. The whole industry is trying to make the best tube sounding solid state amp. I can't say cause I don't play out. But if anyone was ever looking for a simplistic multi-faceted amp that replace a tube amp in a club situation, this MIGHT be very close.

Well the differences are apparent to a tube enthusiast, but not to everyone. I bought the Mustang II because it had the cleanest fender cleans along with a low end that will rattle your rib cage (the Mustang I did not due to the smaller speaker)
The drawback is the breakup. A real tube amp will allow you to get a clean tone wneh lightly strumming and get some distortion when digging in.
I have yet to hear a SS asp do that. Plus there is an inherent "thing" about tube tones cutting through a mix that is only noticeable at loud gigs.
Once again, this amp is awesome, but not the end all.

I haven't tried the M1 or M2 at gig levels, but from what I've read on TGP, people are impressed with them. My experience though is that the gap between a good modeling amp and a good tube amp gets wider as you turn up. At least that was the case with my Tech 21 TM60. It sounded better than my AC50 at moderate levels, but at higher volumes there was no contest.

I've found the same. Modelers can sound great at low volumes but once you turn up to band/gig levels, they can't even come close to a decent tube amp. Something about them just doesn't cut through the same way a tube amp does.

I can't say if this is true or not, but I wouldn't be surprised that the Mustang 4 is capable of coming close. These guys at Fender are not messing around. They are very serious about their Digital as well as Analog footprint in the industry. The SCXD is a good demonstration of the fusion of both.

The amp actually has sag adjustments and bias adjustments. You can run your virtual tubes hot and add the sag of a 300lb, 5'2" lady, as heavy as heavy can be.

I have the 2 And I am far from thrilled with it. I think the interface is junk(preset based) . I feel I need to have the computer hooked up to make it work for me It does have some nice clean tones But the reverb and effects are sub par.

However It Really shines as a Power engine type set-up(aux in) I have used it with the Axe FX , Hd500. its plenty loud and the speaker works great for FRFR stuff.

For onboard sounds and interface I would have to say the Vox Valvtronix stuff is better.

I will most likely never sell it as it sounds really really Good With a blond pedal and nova system in the Aux in.

If you don't set it up using FUSE, you are really missing out on all the goodies. There are several reverbs available, all fully tweakable. The compressor is as good as a rack mount. The OD is much like a Boss SD-1. The mods are excellent. its a shame they used such crappy presets. They could sell a lot more amps by doing better ones.

This. Have both the scxd/mii. I would gig the scxd rather than the mii only because there's just no substitute for an actual tube power section at volume.

How do these compare to my gdec3-30watt? I used the usb out to record using ableton and got the foot switch. I love it for around the house. Not impressed with the online pre-sets(fuse).

I always look for that but never see it. The 30watt is fun and I keep stealing it from my kid. I may buy another for my man cave. Prolly check out the Mustang first.

+2 I don't really need a more powerful version.I use other equipment for gigging and just bought the MII for playing around the house.Don't see a reason to upgrade.

I gig with the II. Easy 1 hand load, sounds fine. Princeton clean, Vox hair on the fs, twist of the knob, Twin- chorus.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. The Mustang II's light weight and cost makes it ideal for me, but the effects loop is something I wanted, as is the extra power.

I'm not sure I "Need" a III though. TBH I wish you could get the Mustang modeling in a pedal.
