pickup & controls are mounted to the underside of the pickguard. Nothing touches the soundboard...fully acoustic.

That's a beaut! I'm ambivalent about the fretboard inlays, but overall I can't argue that it's just beautiful. How's the sound?

Great looking guitar. The subtle bindings really help to contrast the extravagance of the inlay. The guitar looks ornate but not garish. Very nice!

That is an amazingly beautiful instrument! I dont like fingerboard inlay at all, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship. Asside from the fingerboard inlay, everything about that guitar is perfection. I especially like the headstock shape and the wood binding everywhere.

Tim tried to talk me out of the vine inlays and ornate woods....Some days I guess I just get a wild hair up my.......;)
I also have one with no inlays and (somewhat) plain woods - for my conservative side.
And one other based on the Brockburst color scheme.
dkaplowitz - I've got a bunch of great archtops in my collection - the Schroeders are the best sounding by far. The guitar is very open and clear - very harmonically detailed (very rare in an archtop - most are midrange focused) Its the most sensitive to right hand technique - perhaps the widest tonal range of any acoustic I've played. You can let a note/chord decay, and virtually count off the harmonics as they swirl around.
There was some talk about Tim Schroeder in another thread - so I posted these. Tim is too humble to ever talk himself up - IMHO he is one of the most promising new-generation luthiers out there.

If you can get around to it, it would be great if you could post pictures of these other guitars as well.

Exactly what I was going to say, that inlay just looks out of place to me.
Aside from that the guitar is fawking gorgeous!!
Do you have a link to his site, assuming he has one.
Where is he located?

Don't think Tim has a web site. You can reach him at 312-226-9668 and email address tesaudio@ameritech.net.
Bluester, I recall you posted a pic (maybe more than one) of all of your Schroeder archtops. I personally love burst guitars and I seem to recall one of your Schroeders is of that nature. Please repost for all.
And, for the information of all, Schroeder has and can make solid body guitars that are resonant, toneful, and play amazingly well. They also are far less expensive, take less time and thus Schroeder is more interested in making than the archtops.

Everything about that guitbox is gorgeous - including the inlay work. It's a playable piece of art.

But wait, there's more! Not only is he a luthier of the highest order, but Tim is also a tube amp guru. He has tweaked/modded/restored everything from the routine FMVs to the most obscure pieces you'll ever see. His work is meticulous, his knowledge vast, and his skills remarkable. Not only that, but he actually builds some sweet handwired tube amps of very original design.
Tim just moved into the same building as Make'n Music, so that should expose his talents to a wider audience here in Chicago.

Here's the one without inlays - natural finish, cherry bindings, mounted pickup.

That natural finished archtop is a real beauty! Understated elegance.

I think this is the pic I posted earlier - Tim surrounded by some of his guitars. I don't have any closeups of the sunburst one yet - I'll take some and post them later....

I'll forever curse and praise my teacher, Frank Rumoro, for introducing me to Tim's guitars and his work in general. I'm a happy owner of Tim's black tele-style guitar, which is an amazing player. I also lucked into an early hollowbody of his, which I pretty much have to touch at least once a day. I'd post pictures if my photo skills had any merit.
I've never actually met Tim, but he's worked on several of my guitars, doing major fret/neck, electronics, and wood work, and they're all first rate. I don't know if I could ever leave Chicago for fear of subjecting my instruments to potentially inferior luthery. That's extreme, but if you're in the Chicago-land area I heartily recommend him.

Rumoro eh? Great guy and teacher!! I had also heard of Tim first through Rumoro. Since Frank is extremely knowledgeable, AND picky about these things, I really trust his opinion and recommendation to use Tim's services.
BTW.....Tim, your website looks great!!

The best thing about Tim......he does incredible high-end work like what's shown above, yet he's not above turning my lowly DeArmond M77T into a great player. :)
It's getting new pots/caps and a new set of frets as we speak. It will be the 3rd or 4th cheap-ass guitar that Tim has helped me turn into something special and/or at least enjoyable. :BEER

i heard schroeder's out of town for a couple of weeks...
as soon as he's back, i'm thinking about having him drop a couple of humbuckers into my tele....
i'd really like to convince him to make me a copy of his distortion box prototype...
that thing screams!
