Hey Guys!
Help me decide between these two guitars. Which do you prefer and why? I am wondering if you get more out of the Grosh vs the Fano. If you substract the cost it takes to relic a guitar there is a huge price difference between the two. Is it warranted? What is the difference between the two in terms of tone, playability (ie. feel) and build quality?
I have GAS for one of these two and must by one after the NAMM show is over :)

I'd also check out a K-Line San Bernardino, they look to be a little less than the Grosh or Fano.

Very very happy jm6 owner hear. I've played a few electrojets and they always seemed very refined to me, resonant and enjoyable to play but I never really felt comfortable digging in, but always loved the look, and that limited edition with the tv jones that was floating around looked unbelievable.
I got my fano about 8 months ago when a friend of mine was tracking at sound city and decided he wanted to use something different, he was talking firebird at the time, and so I luckily was the guy who snagged the fano. This guitar blows my mind, I LOVE to play it, everything about this guitar screams, please, for the love of rock and roll, turn your amp up. The touch is perfect, back off the volume and you have a sparkling rich clean tone, and when I roll it up I try to keep a tasty angry tone ready to roll, something like the raconteurs "consolers of the lonely" tone with a little more sparkle. I mainly rock a goodsell custom 33, which I love and this guitar loves every amp and pedal that it's seen. I've only owned probably 15 or 20 guitars but I've played a lot killer p90 equipped axes and my jm6 holds her own in the company of the great vintage juniors, goldtops, and a mind numbing 50s tele someone put a 50s gibson p90 in.
Anyway, mine is an older version that I'm pretty sure dennis made, but it is incredible, so good that I'm going to the studio right now...
cheers

Thanks for the posts guys! Keep them coming! I need some heavy psychological convincing :)
Is there any particular options, pickups or upgrades you would recommend on a JM6 or Grosh? I also saw a Fano MG6 model. Is anyone familiar with this model and how it compares to a JM6?
@SWSNick. Thanks for the detailed reply! Much appreciated. Is the feeling you describe for the fano do to the beautiful relic job or something else about the guitar?

Slush,
About a year ago, I bought a Fano JM6 from someone here on TGP. I loved it the first time I picked it up and I love it even more now. I'm fortunate to have several other great guitars but I'm drawn to the Fano 80% of the time.
The stock P90s are perfect as is everything else about it, at least to me. What's so remarkable about the way Dennis "ages" the guitar isn't just how cool it looks. It feels like you've been playing it for 40 years. Totally broken in.
I've never seen or played a Grosh, but I can't imagine that you wouldn't be happy with the Fano.
Good luck!

There are way too many cool custom offset guitars being made right now. I've been back and forth over Creston, Fano, K-Line and Grosh the past few months.

I duno, if I wanted a JM style guitar, I'd want real JM pickups, but that's me.

Yea, but I already have two of those. I want something a little different. The one thing I know for sure is that the JM body is my preference.

I had an Electra Jet Custom. Without a doubt the best guitar I have ever played. I needed money so its gone. I regret it every day.
